Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it because leicester went into administration to get out of the crap, that the 'points deduction' rule came in for any other clubs that tried that?
Thought I'd give you that honour BB Suppose I could always ask TC or one of the other Millwall boys if they know, or if they'd like to find out
Are we going get this bitter, tribal rubbish every game? Going to put me off coming on these sites... Lets just talk about the game like adults?
Mark, don't let a few ill-informed, brainless idiots put you off using this wonderful forum! Dan and H run a good ship and your contributions are always a good read, don't deny us the pleasure of your company please!
For what its worth regarding the signing/loaning of players - Fair play, Watford have struck lucky IMO with owners that own other clubs and are prepared to move better players around, I wouldnt call it a loophole, my take is if a businessman owned 3 factories and one was not performing as well as the other 2 then he will obviously move key people from the other 2 factories to bring the under performing one up to speed - seems to me that is what your owners have done. If you had finished last seaon 18th in the table nobody would bat an eyelid. Regarding the points deduction if the law was already in place when Leicester went into administration we would have still got promoted since we finished 12 points above the 3rd placed team! - Also it wasnt a pre-planned adminstration like other clubs have managed - it was a total fook up from a useless board and an even worse manager! (5.5 million on Akinbiyiy) So anyway good luck for the season (Apart from when you play Leicester obviously!!!) am now looking at my fantasy football team to fail as miserably as usual every year.
The voice of reason. The Pozzos are not rich - they can't bankroll our club with fat wallets as many other owners do - but they are clever football people. Instead of simply pumping millions into the club, they're using the resources they have available. As has been said before, this will be the last mass-recruitment of Udinese/Granada players.
Don't know about sane - I am a Leicester fan! Personally dont see why people are getting on high horse about it - far worse things going on in the game but thats another discussion
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23386494 Yet apparently we are still viewed by many as all that is wrong with football....
After all the crap certain foxes give us about too many foreigners/not giving English youngsters a fair chance - their team who managed a draw against the might of Ilkestone today contained the following: Paratore, Taft, Panayiotou, Dodoo, Ngoma, Larrauri You couldn't make it up.
An interesting mix of sensible and deluded comments from non-Watford supporters on this issue, also plenty of good views from Watford fans to. As people have said, it is not surprise that people believe we are 'cheating' or 'breaking the rules' when news outlets like the BBC are reporting that we are under a transfer embargo, when we of course are not. At the end of the day we did indeed strike lucky when the Pozzo's chose our club in order to break into the English market. They run their clubs brilliantly on a tight budget, and we are clearly benefitting from their management. Other clubs at this level have thrown far too much money at average English players (in some cases foreign players) with little technical ability, whereas the Pozzos have given Watford technically gifted players acquired cheaply and more importantly compared to English players, not on extortionate wages. As others posters have also said, the education of foreign players has improved the skills of some of our English players, with the three prime examples being Doyley, Hogg and Deeney. Hopefully next season this can be extended to some of our academy graduates such as Hoban, Murray, Smith and Assombalonga. Where some have criticised, many clubs owners, and potentially English football, could learn from the Pozzo's.
Spot on emiatss - and I really hope the tossers that keep on having a go, keep missing the real story...the longer it takes, the more we will progress. Doyley is 10 times the player he ever was since playing with Cassetti!
Sorry, been away since Wednesday.... Still see we are ruining English football... http://infogr.am/Number-of-homegrown-players-to-appear-for-Championship-clubs-2012-13 I assume Leicester's main gripe is the ffp rules coming in and they are royally screwed as they can't buy yet another 'title-winning' side!! Are we breaking any rules? Nope Are we not competing in the 'spirit of the game?'. Definition of this please, as football has been pretty shabby since Sky and their money I wonder if Granada had all this whining a few years ago....
There are two ways to feel a c**t. One could get you in a lot of trouble and the other..... ...follow Leicester City; sound off on the Watford boards, then get ridiculed.
