Chelsea actually haven't spent excessively this summer, it's City that are spalshing the cash once again. Ridiculous sums of money for players that are quite frankly, untested.
Looks like Tito Vilanova is stepping down as manager of Barcelona after suffering a relapse in his battle with cancer. Another major club with a change of manager going into the new season.
Benteke has withdrawn his transfer request and signed a new long term contract with Villa. Probably hit home that the only club that were seriously interested in him was Spurs so he gave up and accepted his faith.
It's a wonder Paulinho didn't hold on for another window, seeing as spurs were the only team in for him this one.
Schurrle was £16mil and Van Ginkel was £6mil plus future of £4mil add ons so only £22mil spent... Plus we got Schwarzer on a free... City on the other hand...
22m, plus you are looking to sign Rooney, that is another 30m? 52m if you sign him. City have spent 90m but sold Tevez and Bad, the wages those getting paid coming in will most likely be far less than those that went out plus transfer fees recouped and it might possibly be they've actually added an additional 60m to the books or a bit more, there is not much of a difference in those final numbers actually.
Yeah he's had a rough time, back and forwards to America for treatment. Wish him well The world media and thick fans seem to think that had no affect on Barca last season
Barca don't need a manager. The players are drilled to play that way, and can do it without a manager. Villanova's making the right choice if he leaves. It's not worth sacrificing your health for football, a person's well-being is more important than their job.
Awesome moniker and avatar As for a team not needing a manager, I'll pretend you didn't say that seeing as your moniker is so awesome. Games change, tactical changes by the opposition need to be countered and then there is man management. Players with a job to do cannot oversee all of those issues. Of course he needs to put his health as top priority but it had an impact on their season.
barca have announced that Villanova is stepping down, new manager will be announced next week. Can they take Arsene please? He might weaken them a bit.
Barca have become to arrogant to get a proper manager. No doubt they will promote another unknown and hope that 'the system' gets them through the season.
I get the distinct feeling that you hate them still because of that CL final. I suppose winning so much gains you no favour with those who do not support you. I think they have achieved great success and have worked extremely hard to do so, you talk as if they just lucked into it.
For all the anti wenger stuff going about, given what he's spent he's done a phenomenal job, granted you'd prefer he spend a few bob and add to the haul. I can understand the frustration but it can't denied he's a very good manager. Time for the Club to give him some of the money he's generated, I don;t believe he is making the decisions not to spend
Wrong. Barca beat us fair and square in that final, so that's bollocks. Barca have become too arrogant with their style and system and their viewpoint that the outsider can't adapt to it, is silly. Their approach to CB's in particular has been hilarious and their arrogance on that front has come back to bite them in the arse.
Marcelo Bielsa should be the guy that Barca turn to. He is perfect for them and that combination of Bielsa and Barca would make them epic to watch next season.
Then how come they've won so much if they are so hilarious at defending, they defend as a team, it's a different system and one that has given them a lot of joy over the years? It has taken 5 years for people to figure out how to play against them and people talk as if it was always obvious. Even then they can beat anyone when they are in top gear. Any tactical system has flaws, but you have to give them credit for creating a system that has let them dominate European football for half a decade. As for arrogance, all I see is that the linchpins of the system they had, great movement and serious work ethic when they had not got the ball in possession were applied to great effect. I think anyone who wins so much, including making a CL final seem like a training session might be infected with a little arrogance, tell me there is no arrogance at united from winning so much
