The Huddlestone rumours are building up, here's one article from the Daily Fail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...rland-transfer-stalls-Fulham-prepare-bid.html £5m, just the job. Nothing concrete, but it's promising speculation.
It is indeed, Bidley. Good spot. Anyone know anything about the young striker reported to be on trial with us?
Captain, Iâm guessing you mean Jonathan Buata Mananga who played against Sutton last Saturday. please log in to view this image The guys at the game didnât have much to say about him. Must say I canât find out a lot except the usual âbioâ stuff. That is, heâs a left footed 19yr old Belgian (originally from the Congo) currently with KRC Genk but that might be on loan from Standard Liege. Heâs been around a bit for someone so young having also played for: FC Montegnee SC Saint-Gilles Tilleur FC Liege On the plus side, heâs played for Belgium at all the youth international levels from U17 through U20- mainly in midfield. The only match I can find that has any detail about him was against the Irish, where he comes over as âbeing quite a big, strong boyâ. please log in to view this image
Thanks for that, Cottager, but that's not the one. The article Bidley referred to mentioned us giving a trial to 'Lens striker Ange-Freddy Plumain, an 18-year-old who has previously been capped by France at Under 16 level.' Sorry for not being clearer!
More strong rumours about Phil Bardsley. please log in to view this image Although I'm not a hundred percent convinced, he's hard working, consistent and can play in other than just right back position (and I presume it's cover for Riether that we would want from him). If we get him at a cut price would be a useful addition to the squad. And presumably is 'home grown' which can't be a bad thing. Here's a link to one of today's sources of the rumour: http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc/peruzzi-seals-sunderland-move-as-fulham-swoop-for-bardsley-1-5865382
I see Palace have signed Campana from Sevilla. I wish we had. He's going to be a good player, good technical skills and a regular in the Spanish Under 20 set up. I have sen him turn out for Sevilla and they only sold him because they didn't want to pay the wages he wanted on a new contract. Bit short-sighted of them, I think. I would be surprised if he doesn't do well for Palace next year.
Sevilla did offer him a new contract but he turned it down, I think Sevilla are in money troubles which is why they are selling Negredo as well!! I totally agree we should have looked into this surely we would have been more attractive than Palace, though I think he is going to be a great player not sure he is ready to be thrown straight in to the premier league he only has 5 first team games for Sevilla .
Yeah he didn't start much last year but he had some established players in front of him. Fazio, Navarro, Botia & Coke are all fairly handy. And yes, Sevilla (along with many Spanish teams) do have some financial issues. But then the whole of Spain has financial issues. I'd like us to try and prise Perotti a very useful little Argentinian away from them, or, if we want a madman in midfield as well as defence, Gary Medel, which could be quite entertaining and seeing how often we would end a match with 9 men would give us all something to bet on.
Where to begin with todayâs âstoriesâ? Simplest just to list them - Liam Ridgwell - West Bromâs 28yr old left back. A Londoner, heâs done time at Birmingham and Aston Villla. Source: http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/spo.../west-bromwich-albion-transfer-rumour-5150291 Raul Meireles - Currently with Turkish side Fenerbahce, the 30yr old midfielder is of course ex-Chelsea Source: http://hereisthecity.com/2013/07/19/nh-fulham-to-rival-sunderland-for-raul-meireles/ Peter Odemwingie - West Brom have snubbed Dubai outfit Al Nasr's £850,000 bid for him, so we are still in the frame. Source: http://www.clubcall.com/fulham/al-nasr-snubbed-in-cottage-target-bid-1608234.html The Pog - yup, the very same; although this is from his agent who is touting him because he âis good enough for the premier leagueâ.
And as an alternative to the myriad of rumours, we may take Eyong Enoh back on loan. please log in to view this image "Fulham have been offered encouragement in their pursuit of Ajax midfielder Eyong Enoh. Ajax coach Frank de Boer admits Enoh is not in his plans for the new season and would be happy for him to return to Fulham on-loan. De Boer made the announcement at a media conference today." Source: http://www.afrikansoccer.com/2013/07/fulham-interest-in-eyong-enoh-boosted-as-ajax-boss-de-boer-says-he-is-ready-to-send-the-cameroonian-midfielder-on-loan/ So it may not have been a misprint or some sort of oversight after all, Cookie. Could be a shrewd move - we know what we'd be getting;would provide good cover yet competiton for places;no huge expense while Jol sees how the 'new look Fulham' settle in. In other words, low risk but giving Jol options and cover.
I'm not convinced by either Odemwingie (for reasons previously mentioned elsewhere) or the Pog. I remember being impressed with Meireles when he first came to the Premier League, and the fact that he's ex-Chelsea doesn't matter a jot. What kind of fee would it take to bring him in? If he's reasonably priced he could be a good signing. I'm not sure he'd be my first choice, but he wouldn't be a bad choice. Ridgewell, as well as his time with Middlesboro and in the midlands, had a loan spell in a promotion-winning Bournemouth side as a teenager. I saw him a few times back then and he was all right without looking destined for great things. He wouldn't be a bad signing at left back, but he wouldn't be one to excite me either.
In line with our culture, our business is done largely in private. Most "whispers" about us are 2+2 = 22. Agree about Meireles - might be a very useful addition, but I'll believe it when I see him in a FFC shirt. Also agree your assessment of the rest - Ridgewell - ok, but wouldn't impress as first choice. The other two - no.
Meireles has moved clubs in each of the past three summers, for £11.5m, £12m & £8m. I'm not so sure there's anything to a link with us.
Jol's quote of the day: With the start of the Barclays Premier League season now less than a month away, Jol admitted that he is still looking to bring some potential new faces to SW6 to help Fulham in their quest to finish in the top half of the table. âWe are still looking for one or two players to make it 100 percent,â he explained. âYou saw 22, 23 players [in Costa Rica] and they did their best"
Not sure if this is them churning out an old story or if it's a move forward on the previous story, but - "Fulham have opened talks to sign Evian's Mohammed Rabiu but the Cottagers face competition from Portuguese heavyweights Benfica. The midfielder is expected to leave the French side this summer and has been linked with Ligue 1 clubs Marseille, Lyon and Lille but it would seem as if Fulham and Benfica are the front-runners in the race for his signature. Evian coach Pascal Dupraz has confirmed the club have begun negotiations regarding the 23-year-old Ghana international with both Fulham and Benfica, and expects Rabiu to make a decision in the coming days. "With regard to Rabiu, negotiations have already begun with Benfica and Fulham," the coach said in a press conference." I understand that Bent is a bit concerned about the old SFC link and how popular he would be at NUFC. Also I am led to believe that, being a London lad, he would quite like to come back home. Source: My Dad (via The Telegraph or SSN, not sure which)
When asked, this is what he himself said - Hard to hear but reply to "Are ya goin' to Fulham?" was "Yeah ........". Could have been anything really so who knows. However if it's us (and I for one would prefer not), I guess we'll know in the next 48 hours so that he can be with the squad before the Werder Bremen game.
