Andy Gray on Talksport: I have a very close source to Wayne Rooney I know 100% for a fact he has not asked to leave Manchester United for a 2nd time. It's been unfair on the lad the fans have now turned their backs when he never said he wanted to leave, now the whole thing has gone too far to the point he might have too. One thing I don't understand is if he said he didn't want to leave but doesn't want to be second fiddle, then why not come out and prove yourself to them & say "Listen, I'm still you're number 1 man at Man United & I'm going to show you that next season." But instead it's looking like he's going to be happier to leave instead. If he stays or whoever signs Wayne Rooney will still be getting the best striker in the league for me, hopefully his form returns, because if it does, we could be seeing the Premier League Champions if he's on the team sheet next season.

I would have thought that was what Moyes comments were about tbh, getting Rooney to buck up and prove he's still the man for the job.

An on form Rooney offers more to the team than RvP tbh. Robin's a great finisher and he does work on defending set pieces but as a contributor to the team as a whole Rooney offers a bit more. In games where supply to the forwards is scarce RvP fails to have any impact.

I just don't see Rooney leaving though.

I think the media are trying as much as Jose to make this happen so they can have plenty to print over the next few weeks

I dont think anyone will know anything until Rooney comes out and says something.
Either "I want to leave" or "I want to stay".
If he decides to leave, Man Utd will sell him imo. No one is bigger than the club, and as long as they get a fair price, they will let him go.

Rooney is miles, literally miles upon miles ahead of suarez.

Dont let a one off season fool you ( for either player )

    *cough* deluded.

As you can see from my sic, can't stand the bloke but there is no doubting he is one of the top players in the league at the moment. I'd say they are similar in ability. To say 'literally miles upon miles ahead' is actualy quite embarassing for you.

    Deluded eh?

Go take a look back over 3 seasons, similar number of PL games ( Rooney 79 Suarez 74 ) with quite a gap in goals ( Rooney 50 Suarez 39 ) and assists ( Rooney 25 Suarez 11 ).

Considering rooney played in midfield last season as well to give yourself the full picture.

Suarez close to Rooney? <laugh> Not at all.

Actually theres 3. The rest played as strikers. Rooney didnt so to be fair he should be compared with Bale, Mata and Lampard. Safe to say all 3 had brilliant seasons while Rooney's was poor. Not bad for a poor season in midfield really.

See the above and my last post are why we should KEEP Rooney. Just a shame his attitude is pathetic.

Andy Gray didn't say anything about him being the best midfielder, he said striker, so the fact that so many midfielders and wingers also outscore him only highlights his poor record even further.

    Rooney - played 32 scored 27....

i think I have made my point.

I wouldn't debate the better tag, although Suarez is a lot newer than Rooney to this league, just the 'miles ahead' part.

to be fair Drogs I backed it up pretty well and the fact Suarez has always played as a striker while Rooneys been shifted all over the place suggests its the case.

Miles might of been a stretch, 500m do ya? <laugh>

Can't get into the starting 11 as a striker. Point made.

I'll let you have that one seeing as you'll have forgotten what genuine top class strikers look like. suppose as a United fan I am a little spoilt.

How many of those goals were penalties out of interest stato?

No need to go back 3 years. Go back 3 years and Bale is an ok full back/winger. Now he is being touted as the most expensive footballer in the world. Here and now, Suarez is minimum level with Rooney. And it's hardly like Rooney played midfield like Lampard did or Gerrard. Rooney plays as an attacking mid high up the pitch. Not in a position too distant to Suarez when Sturridge plays.

Sometimes you just make a fool of yourself UIR. <laugh> No matter how you struggle and strain to justify your comments they just aren't true and endless replies will not make anyone believe any different.

Suarez can just do things Rooney could never do. Rooney can do things Suarez can't, neither is miles ahead of the other and on recent form Suarez is the one who delivers, or more to the point, you are only as good as you last season
