Just looked at some comments on Facebook and there are full of people complaining about the players risking injury through firewalking. Honestly the media has turned everyone into terrified old men... I would say old women but my old nan was one of the toughest people I've ever known, nothing wrong with a bit of team bonding.
It did amuse me that we did it, normally you imagine footballers being wrapped in cotton wool. No one got hurt, no harm done. I did worry when Nigel left that the team moral might not be as high afterwards, but looking at the footage coming out of this tour there was nothing to worry about. Love how Pochettino gets stuck into everything with the team, and involves all the backroom staff as well.
Thanks for that CBK..........My compliment to DTLW was for bringing it to our attention on the Site............!!
I must admit I'm quite worried that all the footage of him joining in with everything including fitness training is the club's way of telling us we don't need a new cb.
You're having a laugh mate. Motivators have to be optimists and see the best in everything and everyone. I can't see Nicola asking you to give a motivational talk to the team anytime soon.
A good manager or leader will never ask anyone to do what he can't or won't do himself. All great leaders lead by example and do the horrible things, the things they don't like and the things they find hard. That is why Cameron is such a **** Prime minister. Only does easy things. He didn't have the courage to face up to the tobacco and alcohol lobby so in everyone's eyes he is a loser and has lost all credibility. Pochettino is admired and he was the first to walk on the coals. The mark of a great leader.
Its this bloody humidity. How come I was walking about on Crete where it was as hot if not hotter than here and yet here I am lying down indoors in a dark room bathed in perspiration and struggling to breath. Error recognised and corrected.
One should never judge a book by it's cover. The best motivators need to know all sides to people's characters. There's no point just appealing to fellow happy clappys as by definition, they are not the ones who need "motivating" Although I could talk for hours about how often a positive exterior hides a tortured self harming interior...
So pre season they walk on hot coals which means they are saving the walk on water for the season proper,as you would expect from all good Saints ,COYR'S
You've answered it yourself, StG. I remember Crete several years ago. Not a trace of uncomfortable humidity. It was blazingly hot, but with a shady hat, like a straw stetson it was fine. No wonder it was the cradle of civilisation.
Blimey did I really write all of that. This heat must have really affected me. I shall never live down the shame.
