Well no other clubs have been linked to him, so SKY won't make any money on people choose the wrong team. That and we have a bid accept. So no way would SKY etc even take on a bet like that.
Indeed. My mate and I never personally put any words in Skybet's mouth. We simply requested the odds - a one line email. Skybet voluntarily gave us a reason why they weren't prepared to give us any odds. And yeah Beef, I think you're right to say that Skybet haven't closed anything on Banega (eg as a result of a lot of bets being received), because I'm not aware that they had anything open on him in the first place. Hence seeing suggestions on here that Skybet decided to stop taking further bets did bemuse me.
Depends...smaller ones lay them off to share the risk and the profit. If there are any small bookies left...seems to be just the big guys on the High Street these days. The big companies stop if they see a pattern of betting and suspect a done deal. Doesn't mean they always know something, but they reckon Joe Public does.
Thanks Fran. Was just an attempt at a tongue twister which had the requisite meter rather than a question, but appreciate the bonus answer too!
I used to say the same about my Fabergé egg collecting, then it all got out of hand and soon a hobby becomes an addiction and before you know it, you are selling the kids and rummaging around in peoples dustbins just so you can attain that next hit...
Betting and sensible with your money shouldn't be in the same sentence. It's just part of the entertainment and people are willing to lay out money on it.
Can someone explain to me why we're looking at more midfielders when Danny Fox is still so close to the first eleven, and we only have two strikers?
Because you are believing rumours. Do you think the club only looks at players who end up being linked in the media? I believe we have more than 2 strikers.
Well I'd call only putting £40 into a betting account all season and only topping it up with winnings sensible. If I have had a crap year and lost it all that would have been that. Lucky I didn't, so was very easily able to make a profit. Gambling is all about using your brain. It's just a shame some people can't stop when they should but then everyone has their weaknesses .
That kind of betting just adds to the fun. What is worrying is that betting shops are filling the High Street in a time of recession. Suggests people are taking risks with their money and hoping to be saved by a big win. No problem with betting as such...it's just that you should only bet what you can afford to lose. Soap box now being put back in cupboard.
