Perhaps we should play his cock down the left then?

Yeah I think Bernard is the more exciting prospect out of the two by a long way. He has very quick feet and seems to be a pretty composed finisher.

On the central defender thing I'd prefer to gamble on Papa. Although can't see 12M being enough to tempt Schalke. Completely unrelated but apparently Parma just slapped a €35M asking price on Gabriel Paletta.

It's probably better at dribbling and shooting than either of his feet.

Bernard and the Greek will do for me <ok>

Eriksen would be good, and I wouldn't complain - but like others have said, his development hasn't gone quite to plan and it's a possibility he's already sorted a deal out with AC Milan...

The comparisons made between Bernard and Coutinho are bollox. It's because they're both short! (i.e Zingy and Rattlesnake)

Bernard is quicker than Coutinho and has more trickery. Whereas Coutinho has a better awareness to his game and a better passing ability. The two together would be lethal - However, if we're looking for a long term replacement for Gerrard then Bernard's not the guy. But at this stage with Gerrard just signing a new contract perhaps we'll bide our time for our next box to box general.

What's the figure that people expect Bernard to be worth? I haven't seen anything financially reported about him.

P.S. Whats with the Doves? I see you must have changed your name, as I haven't been about much recently...but clearly you're the original Dove.

Bernard and Papa would be two serious signings IMO.

And you're right about Bernard not being a Gerrard replacement. Mkhitiryan was going to be that guy but that scumbag joined Dortmund instead for whatever reason(!)

Bernard has a release clause of £20m I believe, and he's one of the biggest talents emerging from Brazil so I think we'll be paying something around that region.

  16. Doesn't that remind you of Torres though? He was a young player with bags of potential but was also going stale at A.Madrid <ok>

Torres didn't stagnate, he was still one of their best performers.

Eriksen's performances for Ajax haven't improved and is largely inconsistent. However, I do believe a move to LFC or another top club would help improve and take him to the next level.

  19. Torres was touted as one of the best around for two or three years before leaving A.Madrid. He clearly needed to move to develop, infact Man Utd were linked to buying him four about three summers on the trot before we got him. He had too much responsibility at A.Madrid and was carrying the team too. Ajax are one of the best teams in Holland whether Eriksen is in the team or not so he doesn't need to drag his team forward. IMO, much like with Torres but for slightly different reasons, he needs to move on the fulfill that potential.

Isn't Eriksen about the same age as Torres was when he joined us too?

Well explained and I agree - the move is definitely needed to take him to the next level.

I think Torres moved to when he was 22? I think Eriksen is 21 so not too much difference.
