No one's saying Spurs are on par or better than Utd, but you need to appreciate Utd aren't as appealing as they were under Ferguson. Ferguson alone was the reason why you signed many players and the reason why many players stayed for so long and flourished. I'm not saying Moyes is a bad manager because he's not, you'll find I and many other Spurs fans wanted him at Spurs prior to AVB's announcement. But, as evidence with Bayern's signing of Thiago, there are other clubs out there now who players would rather join. Personally, looking at it from a neutral, I'd rather join Bayern, Barca or Madrid over Utd. Where as 2-3 years ago, it would've been between Barca and Utd.

Besides, Bale himself has said he wants to move abroad in the future, so I honestly doubt that he'd join another English club any time soon (that's if Levy ever accepted a bid from someone over here anyway).

He's worth whatever gets accepted actually. This isn't football manager 12. If you bid £40m you'll very quickly find out he's not worth £40m, trust me.

Bayern are the current European champions, additionally, and almost certainly the best team in Europe, currently. Utd can't compete with that.

    didn't work out?

Didn't he win golden boot while at Utd and in TOTY and a couple of PL titles?

If he was a flop then what is a success?

You're just trying to distract people from talking about the departure of your own star and the imminent collapse of the financial house of cards the Glazers have built now that Fergie has left.

I'll give you credit, though. It's working for a day.

Moyes really needs to study Mourinho, though, to learn how to tap up successfully.

Kind of you to say so. I'll admit "imminent collapse" is a bit of a stretch for the word "imminent." But in the greater scheme of things, where the sun will supernova in 10 billion years...

  9. I can see the force in your argument, DL; but, with respect, those respective players did not leave their own clubs (which would have undoubtedly weakened those clubs) and go to rival clubs to make them stronger. What is particularly cynical in the way that, for example, CFC tapped-up Modric was the fact that he had been one of the major reasons why we finished above you, that season, and Mad Dog would (I have absolutely no doubts) have had it in mind to undermine Spurs by taking from us a player who was, at that time, our best player. That's the kind of arrogance I am on about.

I've been saying that for three seasons.

    Exactly!

What Levy actually said was that anyone coming in for Bale would have to pay in excess of £80 million. It wasn't a sales-pitch, it was Levy's recognition of the market-place and that no team in the world would pay us £85m, £90m, £120m (whatever the fee). Levy said what he said because he has absolutely no intention of selling Bale to anyone.

    Bale is not for sale.

Compared to what you had under Ferguson? I don't think that anyone would even debate that, would they?
Moyes is less of a draw than your previous manager.

  13. Yes, that is right. Rooney wants to leave, for a start, and he's your top player!

Why would Bale want to join United (apart from the money), the days of winning titles at a canter have gone along with Ferguson. No more Fergie pressurising referees into favourable decisions means 20 points less a season and United will now swiftly head the way of Liverpool. Top players are turning them down and top players want to leave, Moyes is hardly a draw for a player having won nothing in his entire career.

Why even bother listening to Talkshyte, they just regurgitate tabloid nonsense for something to do.

Just so you know. Fergie now has free reign to terrorise the refs and the fa without the worry of a touchline ban.

    Bad news eh?

Yeah, having an old manager hanging around and bleating to the press constantly will really undermine Moyes. Really bad news.

But like you and others have said, nobody fears moyes so I'm not sure how having the overlords Fergie controlling things helps anyone but United.

It doesn't bode well for the premier league clubs seeing as Fergie can't be banned anymore. He's truly all powerful now.

Someone acting like they're in control does not mean that they're actually in control, though. He can't be banned because he doesn't have a job.
People are now in a position to take out all of the frustrations that Ferguson built up and take them out on Moyes.

    Seems like you're unsure.

If Fergie is the evil being you like to make out then him moving upstairs doesn't really make a difference to your club or anyone else's. He'll still run the fa and he'll still own the refs.

Unless of course none of the above is actually true.

I see the school holidays have started then!!!

Bale will play at Old Trafford next season.... But in the famous lily-white shirt of Spurs.
