When I was in our training department one of the guys, who was a conductor trainer, was an ex marine. He was 5ft 5ins and must have weighed 9 stone wet through. Modest, he'd never told us the story in five years, but I rung a former workplace colleague of his from his old depot, and what had happened was that yob tried to blindside him with a knife and steal his moneybelt on the platform at Middlesbrough - big mistake. He broke the guy's arm, dislocated his shoulder and broke his co-robber's wrist. As I say, to look at him he was, in the words of john Cooper Clarke, no bigger than a twopenny fart.

What ****ing irritates me about some of this is, people post and others if feeling the need post what they think is correct or will post facts to prove a point, not take personal gripes and start insulting as per a few of you. I've read through the whole thread. There have been some good posts with great detail and I admit I go off half cocked at times. I'll reiterate the point I am not anti American, mainly to Bluff and also that I have most likely been wrong on some points, I still to my main point in that Martin's death was for the most part brought about by Zimmerman's actions and his predisposition to the fact Martin was up to no good without any reason to believe so. I will also point out in Martin's defence that in a world so focused on those who would prey on and attack the young that Martin may well have been in fear for his own safety when if he attacked Zimmerman without being attacked when every day on the media you hear of murders and the like, he was in the end a kid being followed by some man who was a total stranger to him and to add that if I got a call from my 16 year old son that some guy was following him I would load up the van with lads and certainly have a confrontation with this man who had been for no reason following my son. I will admit there is no proof the verdict was racial related but there were in my opinion racial nuances in this whole affair, I do not think most Americans racist as has been incorrectly said by some. Perhaps because you are using derogratory and/or insulting terms in your posts. Those terms may not be directed at posters on here but they do set a tone and therefore influence the tone of responses.
After making my last post this kind of starts it all off again. There is no tone, only the one perceived by the reader and if it was not in reply to someone then they have no right to take it as directed at them and indeed they don't but feel the uncontrollable urge to direct comments or insults at me personally. I'm sorry but you have not reasoned that there is an excuse for making judgements on my education.
As far as I am aware, I have not made any judgements on your education. I did call one of your posts a load of racialist bollocks because that was what I felt that it was because you were/are so determined to make this whole issue primarily about race that your points in the end become racist themselves! I totally disagree when it comes to the language being used not setting a tone for the post - as you claim. You already knew that other posters disagreed with you yet you chose to litter your posts with words and phrases that you must have known would be hurtful/insulting to some of those that you were arguing with. Hence you do know the effect that words can have and that you are imposing a tone by their very use. I think it is a testimony to this board that it feels confident enough about itself and the regular posters that it is prepared to tackle issues that go far wider than football - long may it remain so!
no not you mate, not at all, but there have been assessments of my education made by another poster. I did not intend to "Litter" my posts with any comments that would be hurtful\annoying to other members. They were opinions, some wrong or not thought out. Your assumptions are just that and not actual fact, they are pretty much assuming on my behalf maybe as I have assumed on this subject. Without going into it all again I've re read the thread in its entirety and posted a final post concerning it all, I'd rather leave it at that.
