    Millwall again...

    http://www.newsatden.co.uk/24168-millwall-eye-mcdonald-as-robins-play-hardball-on-davies.html?

MILLWALL could pull the plug on a deal to sign Bristol City striker Steve Davies if talks over a transfer fee do not progress soon.

It is understood the Lions have now had several verbal offers for the 25-year-old knocked back by the League One side, who are holding out for around £500,000.

The Robins have been enquiring about possible replacements for Davies, indicating that they may be convinced to sell him, but so far they have been unwilling to compromise on a fee.

If the Robins refuse to budge, Steve Lomas could switch his focus to Leicester City's Martyn Waghorn or Middlesbrough's Scott McDonald.

Waghorn, who NewsAtDen revealed as a target last week, is on the fringes at the Foxes.

But the Midlands club have been preoccupied with a deal to offload Jermaine Beckford to Bolton and Millwall have found it difficult to engage them in serious negotiations.

In contrast, Boro are eager to offload McDonald, who is reported to be earning a staggering £30,000-a-week on Teesside. He has a year left on his contract and preliminary discussions about a severance package have taken place.

If McDonald is paid off by Middlesbrough, the Australian could be prepared to more than halve his wage demands - which would put him within Lomas' reach.

I'm a bit worried about Baldock and Davies. Neither have really lit up Ashton Gate, despite both being tipped to be fantastic Championship players. Hell, loads of West Ham fans were livid that we were getting Baldock as he was deemed a better talent than Maynard.

I'm going to say it. Pitman is better than both Davies and Baldock.

100% agree as SOD said Brett would have gone now where if he had been manager.

Baldock might turn out to be a good player but he misses so many games due to niggling little injuries I sometimes wonder if it is more a case that he just can't be bothered.

With Davies he seems to be a striker because he lacks the speed for the role that he seemed most suited for an attacking left sided midfielder. Having said that I've forgotten again who said that he looked leaner and fitter in the friendlies so I wonder if he is going to play further back this year one up top and Davies JET Wagstaff behind I don't know quite how S O'D plans to set the team up the injuries to Moloney and Cunningham ruined any chance of getting an early look against the Rangers last Saturday.

everybody turned on pitman, Myself included. He looked lazy, Slugglish and as if he couldn't be bothered. He proved us all wrong in league 1. Sorry but Davies is better than pitman. Has a stronger shot better vision and is a bit faster. At league 1 we will have a better pitman and most of our fans want him gone. Ridiculous!!!

Davies is better than Pitman by a mile and if he stays and plays, then he'll prove it

Pitman was partly to blame for his own demise at City for coming across as an unkempt, slovenly, shuffling player who couldn't get out of his own way at times

Well, he clearly wasn't last season...

I can't say I blame him. McInnes wanted him out the second he joined us. Aside from the start of last season I can't think of a single thing that wasn't a shambles.

I like Davies and I like Baldock I'm concerned that it hasn't clicked for them together but that could change. I liked Pitman but his whole demeour looked not not interested, for both Millen and McInnes.

But to judge the forwards on Saturday's game is a bit strange 30 degrees playing temp probably higher, against that defender number 6 who I thought was fantastic. One just started training again due to injury as well.
