As mentioned in the other thread, Shad Khan has placed Mark Lamping the Jacksonville Jags President on the Fulham Board. It now transpires that five current Board members have left. Terminating the directorships of Mark Collins, Michael Cole, Karim Fayed and Omar Fayed is not too surprising. The first two are close business associates of MAF and the other two, family. The fifth Board member to have gone, Dennis Turner is more curious. Dennis is an economist, but more importantly he is the renowned Fulham Historian. As a supporter his credentials are unquestionable and if anyone could have championed the message that âCraven Cottage. is Fulhamâ, then it would have been Dennis. Of course, it may have been his own decision to leave the Board. Broadly I donât think thereâs anything sinister in this move by Mr Khan. It seems consistent with US culture and the way Jacksonville Jags are set up, where the âDirectorsâ are employees and primarily Heads of Business Groups ( âVice Presidentsâ ?). A key factor though will be the respective roles of Mark Lamping and Alistair Mackintosh. Source: http://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/ltd/fulham-football-leisure
Yes, you find the terms Vice President and Senior Executive are much looser in the US than a Director would be over here. You even get Senior Vice Presidents and Executive Vice Presidents so the title doesn't signify the same standing as a Director does over here.
The directors on a board, typically for a US company, only consider what's financially good for the brand. Hopefully, this board will have a member or two that a) knows something about football and b) stands up for the intangibles that makes Fulham FC what it is.
