I will abstain from supporting Spurs if we ever had Rooney in the team! But I know he will never join Spurs, for whatever reasons. It's rumoured he's looking for a new challenge but I suspect this isn't what he has in mind!
Negredo just signed for City. One less option for us.. unless they fancy paying half Dzeko's wages while they loan him to us.
Couldn't agree more, to see Rooney soil a Spurs shirt would be worse than seeing Bale in a Man United shirt. Long time lurker, hello guys, had to post on this. Hope I've done it correctly.
Forget the new Ronaldo. I distinctly remember us signing someone better than him. The same summer Ronaldo left Portugal for the UK to sign for Man Utd someone on the old 606 who "knew Portugese football" said that we had actually signed the better Portugese player in...Helder Postiga! Top bit of insider knowledge that was! Just one of the many reasons I don't get excited by the idea of signing players I've never/rarely seen play and definitely don't take other people's opinions on them very seriously.
What was the written bid: "Give us what we want and we'll go away"? No, wait, that's Real Madrid's tactics...
Rooney wants to be the main guy on the strike force. That would only happen at Spurs or maybe Arsenal. Don't see either move happening though.
According to someone reputed to be ITK... We are yet to make to a bid for Benteke. Apparently terms have been agreed but the fee is still TBD. According to Metro, Villa want a 25% sell on clause, which is what the sticking point is at the mo. -------------------- Make of that what you will. It's all gone very quiet hasn't it?! No Chadli, no Benteke, no Halilovic/Jedvaj etc. Still at least Damiao is supposed to be going to Napoli - that ends that little saga.
I must say I'm very concerned that two of our rivals seem to be having a little disagreement about Rooney. First Moyes makes clear he's second fiddle, then Mourinho points out that he has to start. Now Chelsea say they've made an offer. Rumor has it they've offered a player or two in exchange, but Chelsea denies it absolutely. Whatever am I supposed to believe? I can only hope these two fine teams don't descend to the level of a catfight.
Last I heard on the two young Croats was that Jedvaj was going to Italy (Roma I'm pretty sure) and that Halilovic is still with Dinamo Zagreb, but that that deal may still be happening.
Let's try and make things a tad more interesting with a prediction or two. I predict that Spurs won't do any business from now till the end of the window. Nobody in/out. There you go - come at me bro! (bro being Mr Levy in this case).
Last I saw on Halilovic was that he was making some pretty outrageous demands. Reputedly, he wanted £1mil per Yr. a house, and a free scholarship for his 2 brothers. As to the veracity of this, I've no idea. But, it could explain the delay.
Well thats just a little outrageous really. I'd heard that on here but not seen it stated anywhere else. Unless his brothers are also amazing prospects I suppose....I hope the world doesn't have another Croat who thinks he's far better than he is on it's hands....could be our next Modric in more ways than one?
1 m a year is about 20k a week. A few years ago this was a regular Prem salary and still is for most clubs/players probably. But I'm pretty sure that I read about three or four years ago that players like Jay Emmanuel Thomas and Szcezny (when he was their third keeper) at Arsenal were on about 20k a week despite being nowhere near the first team. So it's not unprecedented for clubs to pay that sort of money to basically youth players. Absurd I know but there may well be clubs out there willing to meet his demands even if he's only gonna be a "prospect" for the foreseeable future. (To be honest I think the house and scholarships is small change, really, in the world of Premier League finances).
I'd give you odds of about 10/1 on that. Tell you what I certainly don't think that it's as unlikely as we'd like to think that we'll not sign a striker. Reckon Levy/AVB might be thinking "We very nearly made it last year and this year we won't be losing Ade to the ACN, his form is very likely to be better AND we've just signed a goal-scoring midfielder, which we very much lacked last year". I reckon I'd give you 2/1 on us not buying a striker. Sounds like a bargain to me!
