I don't think Rooney will be responsible for a 16 point swing in Chelsea's favour. If you signed RVP I'd be worried.

 

RVP is a quality striker but so is Rooney. And the changes from last season are far more drastic than the transfer of Rooney mate!

Get rid of Rooney you have RVP who is miles better! Get £30 million for Rooney (or more if you can) and bring back Ronaldo.

I'll expand on the "smacked down comment"; maybe the part about nothing being secret is a dig at the unprofessional leaking of information by Man Utd (or maybe Moyes just doesn't have any control). In any case, Moyes has messed up completely by saying Rooney is really important because Van Persie might get injured, so Mourinho shows him how man management is done by saying "Rooney or bust". Outplayed and outclassed.

I hope the transfer doesn't happen though since it's massively in Man Utd's favour to get a fat, overpaid and rapdily declining player off their books. Rooney's first touch in particular has deteriorated massively last season.

The transfer will only happen if Moyes think there will be some benefit to United in the transaction

Why not print the FULL text of what was said by Moyes? Why has the press taken one part of his interview and twisted it into something its not lol
