Against modern football, I saw it on one of the flags. Team tonight: K. Davis, Chambers, Fonte, Turnbull, Fox, Cork, S. Davis, Ward-Prowse, Puncheon, Rodriguez, Guly.
Guly up front and Rodriguez in midfield? Or the other way round? Or interchanging.... In reality only 2 or 3 of those are likely to have a chance to start against West Brom, I'd imagine we'll have a completely different team for the second half.
It's effectively a team of players who desperately need to prove they are up to it, presumably that's why Poch has gone with them.
Not really, Pochettino likes Rodriguez, he said so last season. And Kelvin isn't a first choice keeper any more. I think the only players who have something to prove to the manager are Fonte and Guly and maybe JWP as they didn't play much under Pochettino.
I'm guessing we can basically swap the whole team at half-time if needed? Interesting that we're playing 4-3-3. Cork-Wanyama-Schneiderlin midfield might not be as much as a long shot than I first thought.
Find it strange that a Saints fan would have 'AMF' on their flag...surely we are as modern as you can get.
Cork, Davis, Puncheon. They are still first team regulars. Even if they will be used more from the bench this season.
Puncheon started 25 games, and Davis 22; there may be players coming in who will push them further to the periphery, but both qualify as first-team regulars at the moment, I'd say. Edit: somehow didn't see Cork on the list the first time.
Well, with 3 central midfielders. I wouldn't class Davis or Ward-Prowse as an attacking midfielder which we would normally play in that position. But then again, Davis has played there last season so I really don't know. Came across to me as a different formation.
True, but Davis and JWP have played in the attacking midfielder slot, not something I agreed with but one of them will probably play there today.
