In a new series, I intend to find out which factors affect a player reaching his potential, including examples to follow and examples to avoid. Part 1: Versatility - a poisoned chalice? http://hitrowz.com/2013/07/16/fulfilling-potential-part-1/
I don't quite get the whole "post my blog on every forum" thing tbh. While they are sometimes great to read more often or not it's content is just info re hashed and redressed. There does seem to be a bit of bandwagon jumping since the swans went to the prem league and you can't help but think a lot of the bloggers will disappear as soon as the prem status does. The premier league owl is a cracking read and the guys articles are really well thought out and put together,I enjoyed scottswans thread about shelvey and bodde the other day, that created some nice debate. A lot of blogs are just really boring for me though, if I want to read the stats of a player or consider what his qualities may or may not be I just look em up myself, im sure some people love to read them but I see that both on here and planet swans they are starting to get rammed down people's throats on a regular basis, it's good fun if the authors actually have something to say but most of the time it's old news re hashed. That's just my own view, each to their own
I thought this was a well thought out and well written blog tbh Norway. It included research the guy has obviously compiled and put together to form an interesting blog. It's more than Phil McNulty would do!
Each to their own mate As I said, sometimes they are great to read, other times I find them boring, that's just my view though
There's no point of having blogs if nobody reads them, the only way to do that is to get it out there, a forum on the subject in this case football is natural place to put it, you don't have to read it though. I find the writers of these blogs far more knowledgeable than the media hacks who do no research and just rehash what others have already reported. The difference is that they got a huge audience for their crap! How many badly written reports have you seen ?
So whats the point of having a blog ? why not just post regular articles on your favourite forum instead? what is the need for "get it out there" ? especially when your gleaming information that most people already know anyway. Perhaps im missing something, do bloggers feel the need to be published in media or are they people that have designs on going into journalism perhaps ? If they enjoy doing a blog that's great, but is there any more insight created by bloggers or is it just old news re hashed? do they actually say anything that's worth listening to or does it all become part of the window dressing of premier league media overload
I guess what im saying is that to me there is no difference between these guys setting up a blog and talking football to nobody or creating an article on a message board where many people will read an take part. The end result being that they end up putting it on the forum anyway ! so why bother with a blog in the first place . Seems a bit weird to me really, but as I said what ever turns folk on I guess
Could it be,Norway, that the authors see their blogs as having more cachet, more importance, more significance, hoping to show their work up in a more favourable manner than merely posting on 606 Forums?
I guess so Vetch, but it ends up on a forum anyway ! which negates the significance, importance and favourable manner they are perhaps trying to achieve. I guess its a chicken and egg thing, you want to be a blogger so you need a following but to get following the quickest and easiest way is to print your content onto forums but then you don't build up the comments/following on your your blog but on the forum thread instead ! As I said, some can be interesting but most of the time for me its just re hashing stuff people already know . I was just genuinely wondering/interested in what the experience the blogger gets out of doing it all, seems a lot of faffing around for something that is very rarely read or commented on. The traditional blogs were more about a persons personal experience so the interest can be quite a unique experience but what we tend to see now is something that is already out there in other media with very little personal content or experience on offer, which kind of goes against the basic idea of what a blog is all about anyway each to ther own I guess.
