Agreed, although talented he's a luxury we can't afford and we would be better placed to look at 3 or 4 new signings that would replace JB's wages. Losing JB would in no way be detrimental to a promotion push, he was hardly instrumental in our improvement last season and for the amount of time he has on the field there's no point pinning all our hopes on the bloke. I wish him well should he go to QPR and will be glad to see the back of this mess.
Improvement last season? Really? Granted we went from relegation contenders (Which we should have never, ever been) to midtable mediocrity, but you can't really criticise a man from not being a part of that miraculous turn around.
I really don't get this dislike for Pearson, OK appointing Dowie and sacking Brownie when he did was a poor decision, but it was immaterial really as we were doomed to go down anyway (only 5 victories by March screams certain relegation). The Bullard situation wasn't ideal, but he was on a contract which wasn't sustainable in the Championship, and like the other high earners our priority was to sell said players to ease the financial burden hanging over us. For the clubs long term benefit the wage bill had to be cut and Pearson was acting in the best interests off the club.
@OLM. Hello OLM. I have not responded to your posts directly before on either this or the HDM site, but from what I have read I think you seem have reasonable opinions that I usually share about City. So I'm interested to know as the moderator of this site what your views are of TWF. I personally think he is a wum and comments like: "Besides, what decent player is going to want to come to a side that considers 11th in the Championship as an achievement? Bullard going just symbolises the end of any real ambition from this club to get back into the Premiership." Could not have been written by anyone that supports City. If you think he is a supporter can you explain how you come to that conclusion? Also what are your views on accepting known wums onto this board? Are you not worried that if we get more like TWF this forum will deteriorate to the standard of the old Vital Hull one were all decent discussions were wiped out by people slagging each other off? Sorry this was so long.

Yes, we went from being a shambles in October to just been outside the play offs with 4 games to go. We probably left ourselves with too much to do after our poor start, but we've given ourselves hope for the new season. We knew last summer things would be tough for us when we came back down, we had a squad too used to losing and players (Zayatte, Gardner, Folan etc) who weren't playing for the shirt, and only when we got rid of the deadwood did we start to see an improvement. You could say Pompey were in the same boat as us, poor start (bottom at the en of September) but eventually picked up. I'm not criticising Bullard, only saying that we did ok without him so can't understand why all of a sudden he'll be such a big miss when he wasn't really playing in the first place.
Probably, or at least because I'm younger. I don't have the "dark days" to compare to, so I can honestly say this is the least enjoyable period I've had supporting City. Anyway, can we PLEASE not start this again, and instead concentrate on the club letting our record signing and best player go on a free.
He wasn't playing and we came 11th, I'm certain that if he was allowed to play at the beginning of last season and at the end of it we could have sneaked into the play-offs, the man's a class act on the football pitch and I just wish some weren't naive enough to believe every rumour they hear about him. Obviously, this is my opinion, but I don't believe the current squad is anywhere near good enough to get promoted when supplemented by a few extra players, we need a "special" player to take us to the next level and Bullard could be it given the chance.
I was just thinking that students have a lot of time to think on their hands. It gives them a chance to think about some "out there" views. Large amounts of alcohol are often involved too, which lubricates the brain and loosens the tongue. Back to the football debate. Time for Bullard to leave, a shame but it didn't work out for him or our club.
honestly if Jimmy goes, then I hope we get a good price for him, and are able to bring a couple of players. However I would love to keep him, as he is a talented player, but he quite clearly doesn't not want to be here at City and its better to move on a player who isn't 100% committed to the club
TWF is like Herpes, an irritating twat who's hard to get rid of. I decided that this site should be very lightly moderated, hence most views are allowed to be aired, even if they're at odds with the vast majority of other posters. There are occasions when posts are made with the sole intention of winding people up, these are disappointing and when it leads to a thread completely degenerating, then I'll pull the comment or close the thread.
Please, we've done this! Can't TWF just change his name and see if we can tell who he is when he keeps posting?
