They are on the brink of signing Jack Hobbs, which means they have finally admitted defeat with Morgan.
True, would have been nice, but forest seem intent on trying to get one over on us this summer, what with bids for King and Morgan. They know that Pearson loves his little Jacky, so they have stolen him away from him.
Think we have done the right thing sofar. We could have bought 2-3 more in and risked losing Kasper, King or Morgan to pay for it, sticking with what we have is the best move imo.
Totally agree. keeping hold of those three will probably prove to be the best business we do this summer.
Holding onto plays like Schmeichel, Morgan, Knockaert, Schlupp, King, James etc was always going to be more important then signing new players. We we all want new players and I think they will come but more then likely only on loan. We have a good squad already but a little light on numbers Neil Danns could turn it around and make himself part of Nigel's plans again and same goes for Sean St. Ledger. If the club had just signed Danns and St. Ledger then we would have all been delighted
I was surprised we were letting him go. I suppose he realized he wasn't going to get as much first team action, which he does deserve tbf. Sadly with the defenders we have brought in, he was always going to be backup. I'm surprised Leicester never made an enquiry.
Missed a trick there, he's only gone for a £500k loan fee and an agreement he'll sign for them on a free at the end of the season.
Is that all - isn't he your captain? Must have had a massive falling out with Bruce to be let go for bugger all.
Forest havent given up yet. They stole our idea of wanting Wes and Hobbs together http://bit.ly/1dE6w3l
Pearson made him captain and Bruce didn't formally change it, but he was out for half of last season and Koren was captain for most games. There's been no falling out, Hobbs was not going to start for us, in fact he'd have been sixth/seventh choice centre back, most of us would probably have put him fourth/fifth choice, but Bruce wouldn't.
Most of us would get rid of McShane or Bruce ahead of Hobbs, but it seems Brucey thinks differently. McShane is technically better(less of a hoofer), but is less reliable(he's prone to the odd calamity) and Bruce is never a Premier League footballer. If we go with three at the back, I assume it will be Chester, Davies and Figueroa.
I've always thought McShane is a bit limited as a player. A good defender but a bit slow and like you say, prone to the odd error. Then again I haven't seen him play week in week out.
"I believe they [Leicester] were slightly interested," Hobbs said. "I was flattered but have chosen to come to Forest and am really excited where the club is going
ive not seen much of him but i thought hull fans thought mcshane was just about the worst defender in the championship - has he got better? I swear people always used to joke about him. Ive been thinking about this one and i think we might have some real problems with the FFP as since Keane went back we are a CB light (maybe moore?) and no one will get a better CB for £500k than hobbsy and he is a young hungry english player, who NP has worked with before, so would be right up his street. There is no reason we wouldnt have gone in for him if financially we were allowed. Im worried now.
