Being urged not to wear football colours to a football game because your life might be in danger.* That's Belfast, 2013-style!

    * I'm not condoning the wearing of football tops by adults by ra way.

Belfast is a majority nationalist city these days and the shared spaces are fine if you know your geography... but yeah if you wander into the wrong street with your colours on you are in trouble. There are places in Scotland like this as well, to be fair.

    A. The Cliftonville chairman has urged tims not to wear their colours in the city centre not at the match.

    B. There are plenty of people who wear Celtic tops in the city centre all year round without anything happening to them

    C. Certain bars in the centre won't let you in wearing a football shirt

    A. So, yes, Celtic fans are being urged not to wear Celtic tops to a Celtic game for their own safety.

    B. If you say so but then you do mostly talk ****e so I'll take it with a pinch of salt.

    C. That's just common sense. No adult should wear a football top unless they're 1. playing football or 2. a fan at a game*

    * And even then you still look like a dick.

There's gotta be a clause in there that says you are allowed to wear your Celtic top for European away days. Dancing about like a dick in a continental street fountain would not be the same without a Celtic tap on.

    A. The game is not in the city centre and I'm guessing he's talking about heading into the city centre today

    B. Feel free to ask any tims on here

The rioting isn't occurring in the city centre so like I said before its a pointless warning to make.

    A. So, yes, heading into the city centre of Belfast wearing a football top is a dangerous thing to do. Welcome to Belfast!

    B. Why? Most Tims on here and aren't obsessed with Celtic like you are and don't really give a ****e.

And, aye, because the rioting isn't happening right in the city centre that will make people feel safe <doh>

Nah, the rioting is about a mile away from the Cliftonville ground.

I can't understand the logic of someone who's prepared to riot over the flying of the Union Jack or the right to march down the Queen's highway but will then descend on another British city (i.e. Manchester) and try to smash the place to smithereens.

Or was it just too much booze that night, Medro? Or just that you lot lost?

Nah, it was because a big screen which was provided for FREE had the audacity to break down in front of the mutants.

The former was a couple of Belfast chavs who are not Rangers fans and the latter was Chelsea fans.

I can see how you could possibly make a comparison between the two though.

    A. As I have said, it's not. I'm just explaining to you that heading into the city centre is not going to the match.

    B. Well you said you didn't believe me so feel free to ask any tims on here from Belfast about the "dangers" of wearing a Celtic top in the city centre.

Too much booze the whole day

Spurs fans were advised not to wear colours on a visit to Rome not long ago. If it's good enough for the eternal city it's good enough for Belfast.

In saying that I am sure Castle Street will be full of people wearing Celtic colours from opening time today.
