Phil Beard has said there are no guarantees that he will leave the club this summer, but they are open to offers.... That's cleared that up then, or not! He might go, then again, he might stay! He's been playing in France his whole career, and their ligue 1 is no different to the championship, so he might as well stay and help us back up imo.......

I suppose we should resign ourselves to losing him and, that way, if he stays it'll be a bonus...

Think he'll be here until Jan transfer window..who's going to take a chance with the court case?

If he can see us clear by then, good luck to him !

Personally want him to stay...Innocent until proven guilty and all that.............

Sell him for 6 and remove all the question marks over him, and use the money to sign Hooper who has no question marks over him.

    Seems a no-brainer.

Who would spend £6m on someone who may be spending a considerable amount of time in prison? Innocent until proven etc etc, and we still don't know whether this will go to court and are unlikely to until September, but prison or at the least a lengthy and stressful court case are still possibilities. We've got him until this is all over, but whether he will be in a mentally fit state to play is another question.

Personally I wish the stupid sod hadn't put himself in this position and if he turns out to be guilty I expect the club to cancel his contract immediately. Some things are more important than football.

As said by people on here, the best case scenario is for Remy to stay until January. He gets games and goals. We get a bigger transfer fee as well.

Really hope we keep hold of him, and obviously that he hasn't done anything wrong. Would be brilliant in the championship, and alongside Hooper hopefully.

It's difficult to speculate without knowing the facts. I cannot help thinking that this might be a setup. Then again footballers are regularly getting up to these kind of tricks, so it's difficult to know what's actually happened. The suggestion of drugs on face value seems very sinister.

People are talking about not selling and waiting for bigger offers later, I'm fairly sure he has a release clause in his contract if we went down. That means if someone meets the set amount then we can't say no, there is no holding on to him or asking for more money, he just goes if he wants to go to that club and agrees personal terms as long as they meet the set amount. The issue is the rape allegation which he is on bail till sept, it is unlikely that any club will pay 7 or 8 mill for a player they may lose a few months later, my guess is any offer would be based on us paying back money or delayed payments till he is convicted or not, all we have to do is say that we want all the money up front with no pay back and we will most likely have him till at least Jan.

Shouldn't make much difference, they'll just sue him for the money. Chelsea did it with Mutu when he got his drugs ban.

They wouldnt be able to sue him for the money as the inccident has already taken place before they purchased him and they would know the risk, we on the other hand might be able to but I doubt he has £8 mill sitting in the bank and we won't get much money from his £5 a week cleaning the landings in scrubs if it goes that way!

The conviction hasn't happened yet and it's the conviction that would make him in breach of contract. They would be signing him on the basis he is innocent, as if he is guilty he knows he would be unable to honour the contract he was signing. In the event he is found guilty at a future date he would be unable to fulfill his side of the contract, he would therefore be liable to the costs that the buying club incurred as a result of entering into that contract.

I would think that his agent would not allow a contract to be made that would leave him so open to such a thing, the contract would no doubt read along the lines of 'any future conduct', if he was going to another club he would want to be able to get out of any legal action that he could face here!

If he wants to leave the club then he'll accept the legal implications elsewhere. Like you say, if he stays he'll face them, so if he'll face them after a move it goes back down to being a perfectly ordinary transfer decision.
