Hello, My team, Napoli are reported to be interested in Tottenham player Wilson Palacios. What are you Spurs fans views on him? Would he suit Serie A? What exacte role/position does he play? Napoli play a fluid, mobile style of attack, would he suit that? Grazie!
He's a central midfielder but I presume you knew that. He arrived with a lot of hype but has struggled to hold down a first team or even bench place, with the emergence of Sandro etc. I follow Serie A and think he would fit well provided he is given a chance to prove himself. However, I do feel he is not suited to the attacking midfield positions you play.
He plays the role of conceding possession in critical areas whilst achieving an average pass-completion percentage of 6%. £10m and he's yours
He's an aggressive, hard tackling midfielder that you'll probably get the best out of by pairing him alongside a deep-lying creative player. He started very well at Spurs and looked to be the exact player that we needed and had been missing for many years, but he lost his way quite badly after the tragic death of his brother at the hands of kidnappers in their native Honduras. Hopefully a new start in a new country will be exactly what he needs to get his career back on track and his head back in the game, as he's not been the same since, understandably. If the transfer does go through, we'd appreciate any updates that you feel like posting on here, as he was a popular player prior to this season, where he's lost his place in the side. He did have a good game against Milan at the San Siro, where we won 1-0, inflicting their first (and possibly only) loss of this year at the ground, so that could be a good sign.
His main attribute is kicking opponents in the air as soon as they start a counter attack. So why MUPLC aren't lining him up as the perfect replacement for Paul Scholes I don't know...
His main attributes are (a) passing the ball sideways or backwards, and (b) getting too close behind an opposing player in the penalty area and giving away cheap penalties. Needless to say, we'll be sad to lose him.
Good midfielder who lost his way and place in the team after the death of his brother. He may suit Italian football as he doesn't seem to be able to pass at pace and the slow nature of Serie A would give him more time on the ball. Unfortunately I don't think he will ever get back in the Spurs team.
I wish him the best if he moves. Not the best passer but he helped Spurs when we needed a tough terrier of a midfielder. With Sandro Hudd (and possibly Parker) we have that position sorted. If his passing was better he might stay. I will keep an eye open for Napoli's results if he moves
Never was a fan of his even when he was meant to be the main reason for our improvement towards the end of 'Arry's first season. For £4mill extra I never saw Zokora. That said, unless we get a good offer for him I'd rather we kept him as 4th choice centre mid.
Strangely, I think he would. He'd still get game time with rotation in the cups home and abroad - he just doesn't strike me as the sort of "play me every game or I'm off" player?
I'm going to get abuse for this, but I think it'd be best for both parties if we were to sell Palacios to Napoli and replace him with... Nigel Reo-Coker. There, I said it. Palacios needs a fresh start and new surroundings, at least, to get back to how he used to be and we could replace him with a functional, if fairly basic, versatile player, whose best position is as a holding player. He's out of contract and he'd count towards our home grown quota, too.
Different players CH, plus O'Hara is demanding a place in the starting line-up. Reo-Coker would probably accept being used as back-up to Sandro and playing in the cups. He's basic, but sometimes that's exactly what you need.
To be honest if we sell Palacios for £7-£8 and got in NRC on a free it wouldn't be the end of the world. But I think if we want to progress we should be signing better players than him. Doesn't he always fall out with managers though.
