Guys don't panic! BREAKING NEWS! BREAKING NEWS! BREAKING NEWS! 19 year old midfielder Jamie Griffiths has just signed up for 6 months! That's our replacement for Norris signed up until Christmas! Pour me a fckung big drink!
I think you missed my point Lancs.Im not saying everyone has a divine right because they dont.Your club at the mo is being run badly(i dont think im out of order there)and one day, dont know when they will all be gone and there will be others ready to take over. Now the next lot could be just as bad,but then they could be what youv'e been scraeming out for. What im saying is that one day it will be run again properly, just dont know when.QPR spent 15 years outside the top league(trough).i can remember as im sure you can when they were the top London club(peak).Do you see where im coming from?
Fair points you make Crowey! We are in a deep hole at the moment and anyone who denies that is just plain deluded! The Evans years must be seen in the round as the era of missed opportunities and false dawns. Sheepshanks and the Cobbolds before him had proved that you didn't need huge amounts of money but more a tight knit squad of players that would die for the shirt and a young hungry manager who had the ability to galvanise the team. Under Sir Bobby came Burley who was schooled in the "Ipswich way" of doing things and totally understood the club, the fans and the traditions. We played some of the most entertaining and attacking football under George and the guy is still a hero in my eyes!Magilton was just a panic appointment and was the cheapest option. He was well out of his depth and we all knew it. Keane well what more can be said about him! He is so far removed from the type of club we are! With PJ there is hope but the board have to ensure that they back him with the funds to enable him to get us back to being a force again!
Crowey I do see what you're saying, but Luton Town were going great guns only a couple of decades ago. I don't think there is any guarantee at all that we'll ever be back at the top. In fact, I think we are at a critical period now where if it doesn't happen soon then the season tickets could dry up completely and with gates of under 10,000 we might see a real decline.
Sorry Hampy, I was writing my post when you added yours and didn't mean to copy your team. You're probably right about that team not winning the title but why does it always have to be that we want to win next year. Of course I am like everyone else in that I want a team full of so called big name players but there are other ways of doing things and like Spanish says a well balanced team who play for the shirt and each other can be much more effective.
JWM We are in a deep hole at the moment and anyone who denies that is just plain deluded! Not deluded just being rational and not getting all bloody uptight because we have not signed anyone on the first day the transfer window is open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If its today that it has opened.
Spanish Believe me mate all the regular ST holders that I know are all fed up! We are treated like bloody mushrooms by this club! Fed on a diet of Sh**e and kept completely in the dark yet its alright when they charge us an extra 6% for the privilege of watching this garbarge! I really hope for our sakes that PJ will be allowed to get in the quality players we need but judging on Cleggs lamentable record so far we've got Bob Hope and no bloody hope! Yes you can accuse me of being completely negative but that mood seems to be in fashion amongst the general support at the moment! Until we start making progress this mood is going to hang around for a great while yet!
Admire the honesty and my opinion, although institutionally biased, Ipswich are in big trouble. How do I know? I've seen it happen to my club and so many others. Norwich, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Southampton all got sucked in after stagnating then dropping out. What have you got going for you? A bit of money, not loads and loads but at the very least security How do you fix it? No idea! It may be that you can't. Inspirational and ambitious board and football management goes a long way trust me. Ipswich also suffered massively in the last couple of seasons with inneffective scouting. The players you thought would push you on and cost you a pretty penny weren't up to it. Your not alone there either, check out Middlesborough at the start of the season! Get a clean slate and get people buying the RIGHT players. The fans will follow the football, if its good they will return, but will they pay your ticket prices? How do you fix it
