its very boring our end with the lack of activity due to the last few seasons where we seen so many ins and outs. however we have the squad who made us a top 3 side once wardy took over. deadwood gone and new youth players introduced. missing part is o'toole. i think we have wasted too much time on him so lets move on and go for plan b.
J.J. played and scored in last nights pre season game . Eastmond was stretched off after one of the crudest tackles ever and is likely to be out for a couple of months, can't see how we can afford to let JJ go now.
pre season freindlies are not an indicator of future performances Monarch,JJ is being put in the shop window as all clubs do pre season also Colchester have been trying to offload expensive players who will not feature in the upcoming season without any real success. COR
If he's in the shop window and scoring goals from mid-field, do you think Rovers could afford him, just hope the Dunne can see that a rejuvenated JJ will be like a new signing, Dunne and Ward are still close so reports from Ward re JJ's performances for you last season could go along way to our keeping him, on his day he can be a class act.
Presumably he is doing what he is being paid for, which is to be the best player he can for the club who are paying his wages.
your manager last season openly said o'toole has will not be a regular at colchester and will be free to find a new club in the summer. he said that when o'toole was with us on loan. after o'toole finished his 1st loan stint it didnt look like he would come back as i think o'toole wanted to fight for his place for you guys. but then your manager said he wont be in his plans so better off out on loan. which is why he came back to us. since then you have signing a CM from arsenal as well. o'toole may be getting minutes in friendlies but league games is a different ball game. rovers can afford him. we have 1 of the biggest budgets in our league and not spent anything yet. the only concern we have is does he actually want to play for us. he has said numerous times that he wants to play higher than league 2. he needs to make a decision about that. colchester say no offer/contact been made but ward been saying contract offer has been made to o'toole and is in regular contact with his agent. strange!
Capt. Jack, difficult to know who to belive, Dunne says he's had no offers from Rovers or Southend, where as JW says the opposite. If he leaves us I hope it's to you (or Southend) that way he wont be up against us next season.
its very strange. with the stuff ward has been saying, surely he can get done as would be seen as tapping up! comments like... And in terms of comings and goings, John is still talking to John-Joe O’Toole’s agent. He said: “I am in constant chats with John-Joe’s agent and everyone knows the situation". http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/ward-june27-883013.aspx shouldnt be happening if a deal hasnt already been made between colchester and us. very strange. i hope he joins but we have wasted enough time now on him. give him until end of the week and then move on with other options.
