Just read this incredibly interesting article discussing the evolution from Laudrup to Zidane to Iniesta. The author goes on to say that Laudrup was the first of his type of player and therefore the greatest playmaker of all! Anyway, I won't waffle anymore, I'll just let you read the article - http://www.thefalsenine.co.uk/2013/...rowded-out-of-history-by-zidane-and-laudrup/?
Just saw this article too. I know we've all seen ML footage and maybe the praise is getting a bit much by now. Still the video they link really shows what he was all about. Some of those things he does just surprises you. It really is something, to have a guy like him manage the sports side of the club. I mean you could show this to some brazilian wonderkid who just came out of the Amazonas and after seeing this he'd say; I want to go to Swansea.
Shows the value of being two footed - just love the way he shows the ball to the defender then drags it away under perfect control. He was a strong so and so as well; very hard to knock off the ball. He also had pace to spare and, quite simply, was a footballing genius. Transfer value today? £50 million, £80 million and if Ronaldo considers himself worth £100 million then Laudrup is right up there with him. Privilege to have him as our manager.
Not many players (if any) could put together seven and a half minutes of quick fire highlights of that quality.

He is a legend and that's a word used far too much on the forums by all of us! but he is a true legend of football, I don't think we really apreiciate just how popular he is in Spain and other parts of Europe, it was a master stroke to get him here and its a real priviledge to me to see him wear the swan on his shirt! As a manager its early days but it looks like he has the ability to reach the top there too, im just really proud to have a guy like this at the club, it has done wonders for the profile of SCFC and it is always amazing to know this guy is passing on knowledge to our footballers! Lets be honest here, all the coaching manuals in the world cant teach you something better than a guy in front of you with a ball at his feet showing you first hand! it should be an honour to share the pitch with a guy like that, flip charts and diagrams have a place but showing somebody something first hand is always going to be the better way. I think the likes of routledge have learnt from him in that respect. We all love laudrup, its difficult not to really !
There are so many people in the UK who don't appreciate his sheer brilliance as a player. All to many journalists here mistakenly refer to him as Brian Laudrup which really gets my goat! Having the world's greatest ever playmaker as our manager must be a dream for our players!
How we could do with him pulling on the Swans jersey for a few games Laudrup for player manager anyone?
I think it was Leon who quoted last year. Mr Laudrup is not like any other Manager I have worked with. The others tell you what to do, Mr Laudrup shows you. Nuff said. Great video, what an amazing player he was and by all accounts, when they play 5 a side, still is. Thanks for that.
Winds me up too !!! I took this pic of my tv last season - very poor.... click on the pic View attachment 24728
Really gets my goat mate! I've written in a few times to complain but it never gets me anywhere. In my old age (20's ) I've started complaining more. I sent in an email to BBC about the biased coverage of Cardiff. That didn't get me very far either, I think I posted it up on here.
I totally agree guys, it just goes to show you how insular our media is. Brian laudrup was the lesser of the two players hence why he probably played in the lesser leagues, the legend that is Michael did it at the very top for many years is pretty much treated like a god in Spain. I love his zero bullshit approach and confidence in not having to say anything to please media, he is straight talking and polite but very strong minded, I can see why some journo s don't enjoy interviewing him as he gives them no bullshit...I love that! I take great enjoyment from watching his press calls on swans player,he says it like it is and speaks from a far superior back round than most. When he speaks people listen and that is a quality lacking in modern day life as nearly everything revolves around bullshit these days ! You can see why he has been loved by both barca and Madrid fans, probably the only guy to get that from both sets. Sincere ,honest, talented and a very shrewd all round cookie is our manager! 1 day showing somebody first hand on the pitch is equal to 3 days watching DVDs ,diagrams and blarney ! If a pro can't learn from the best footballer of the 90's one on one then they will never learn,so lucky us for having him
Let alone an hour and 23 minutes.
This almost occured while he was managing B-IF, due to some misunderstanding concerning player registration for the UEFA-cup qualification: ML and John Jensen (ML's assistant) were actually Warming up for the match!
Urk - it was Brians own choice to stay in Glasgow (I guess thats what you are refering to as lower Leagues) Spells in Bayern München, AC Milan and Chelsea cannot be surpassed so easily. BL was a winger/inside forward, you can't compare them --> do your research: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTrHuS1wQNc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zybBXABmHd4
