These are the players we should be going for, not the bigger club, bigger wages mentality which probably means sitting on the bench most of the time. Great that they were able to get together!

On the meaning of Scrimmage and rush:

Scrimmage is an interesting and slightly archaic word which, IMO, refers to the point at which two teams come together (as in the scrum in rugby). In American football, it refers to the 'yard-line' at which the two teams line up against each other. Thus a play is successful if the ball is moved across the 'yard-line' and a gain is achieved. Rush has also been mentioned from our song, and this is also still used in American football (eg. he rushed (ran with the ball) for a four yard gain. Total yards is thus split between 'rushing yards' and 'passing yards'. From this, it would be reasonable to assume that 'splendid rush' would refer to running at the opposition with the ball rather splendidly!

it's nice to know that players, first and foremost, are attracted to the clubs 'ambition' <ok>

Happy with the signings so far yeah, can't complain anyway. Need a couple more strikers than I'll be more happier, but I'm sure they will come. :)

On twitter a short time ago @canarycaz to DM, I'm trying to persuade my 8 yr old that FER is a good name for his shirt! DM's reply, I'm trying to persuade Leroy to select a longer name!

    The bloke is a gem!

I'm not a huge fan of Twitter, but I do like the way DM uses it to communicate with fans and thus seem less remote. This and the way he kept us informed about Fer on Friday are absolutely brilliant. He's got to be the best CEO in the PL!

I love this quote from a Liverpool fan underneath the BBC story:

    "19. LuisSuarezOUT
    13TH JULY 2013 - 19:45
If he gets a 30 goal season then maybe Leroy Fer could be a possible replacement for Suarez next season... But I'm holding out for Jovetic/Ibrahimovic/Cavani at the moment, only issue is the wages. We don't have the megabucks of other clubs.
    "

30 goals in his first season from centre-midfield???? <yikes>

Think we're pretty safe from the clutches of the scousers if that is their criteria <laugh>

Personally I would say I am more excited about seeing Fer in a Norwich shirt than RVW. Exactly the sort of player we need and he seems to be rated so highly, he seems an absolute steal at 4 million.

I'm gutted that I am out of the country until Christmas after the recruits to our ranks. Just hope I can find a decent sports bar in Subic Bay, where I arrive tomorow.

Just watched the interview with Fer on Canary Player. For those who don't have 'Player he seems to be another articulate intelligent man, who knows his own worth, but isn't at all arrogant. Said that RvW had contacted him and texted him a number of times, encouraging him to sign for us. Says he wants to help the club and wants the club to help him become a better player. Describes himself as a box to box player, who gets back to help out the defence, but likes to chip in with goals.

    Just gets better and better.
