Hes gutted but nowhere near as gutted as every liverpool player over the past 20 years......who dont have a PL winners medal. It comforts him, especially the fact he played about 200 minutes for it.
I love this thread, started by a gimp but enjoyable thanks to the rest. BTW, does gerrard feel insecure when Ryan Giggs shows him the 2 Champions League medals he has? I bet he does if Wes Brown gets his pair out though.
Why, did Gerrard sign for Barcelona last season? Anyway, Owens got another chance this year. Stephs got none
We'll certainly be glad to see the back of any mention of that historical liver transplant waiting to happen that was George Best. You should really have a little more respect for the history of the club you profess to support. You do realise it was formed over a century ago, right? It's not on your crest so possibly you're unaware of that. A Manc's View of History: Big Bang------------------------------------------------------(1968)-----1992 Anything after 1992 will never be considered history. Except 2005, obviously, which they see as a hiccup in the time/space continuum. "Liverpool nil, AC Milan 2, and this final is over!" - Alan Green "We do get envious of the records of other clubs in Europe. We look at other teamsâ records and we are trying to get parity with that. We look at clubs like Real Madrid, AC Milan, Ajax, Bayern Munich and Liverpool and we really need to progress quickly to get to that level.â - Alex Ferguson And my fave clippage montage:
Gibberish. Its widely accepted that before the format changed to become the Champions League it was much easier to win. I mean Real Madrid won 5 in a row. Not because they were the best but because it was easier to win back then. Our 1968 triumph was easier than our 1999 win. Since the format became more professional in every way we have won it twice and been in 4 finals. There isnt many better. Now come back with the 'only champions were in it before 1992' remark but remember some of the league champions involved in the European Cup. Now the best teams in europe play in the competition.
While this season was a season of twos for Utd: still two European titles behind us, two sex scandals and losing by two clear goals to two teams they really didn't want to lose to: Liverpool and Barca.
Bullshit, you're making up the opinions of other people to suit your argument. It is NOT "widely accepted" at all, you had to win the league to even get a chance, meaning you truly were the BEST in Europe when you won it. You'd won in your own country and you'd beaten the best of the other countries. We weren't the best team in the Premier league in 2005, but we won it - what does that tell you. As for the argument all you Mancs use to justify it was easier by spouting out rubbish about us having to face to likes of Borussia Mönchengladbach or Club Brugge - At the time they were the 2nd best in Europe, they had beaten their home leagues and they had beaten the best from other leagues in Europe, so a club can be good in the past and not be judged on their present predicament.
Wrong. This season was a season of nineteens. Ouch. Wouldnt be a good idea to take the piss out of vastly superior team. Makes you look small time using a home victory as some sort of high point......wait, that was your high point hahahahaha. double ouch
Its widely accepted that football is a better and tougher game and a damn sight more professional. Thanks.
Gibberish. It's widely accepted that before the Champions League it was much harder to win. You had to win the league to be in it to start with and there was no playing for a draw away from home back then. In the 1997-98 season Utd finished 2nd. They wouldn't have qualified for the European Cup so throw away your '99 CL title and your treble. Clearly you only hate history because you don't have a clue about it.
Widely accepted by who exactly? Yourself and other Mancs? Because that's not exactly what I'd class as valid proof. It's widely accepted Football is a better game now is it? I see, thanks for your useless input. Your lack of proof to back your claims is rather funny considering your history of making outlandish remarks about LFC.
You're not in Europe's elite by your manager's own admission so you're not a vastly superior team. Official. And no amount of silly ouches is going to change that. If it was a season of nineteens name another.
History is great. Its something to look back on with pride. I am not saying your wins were lesser, just that its harder to win now. Heres the evidence for you. Now when its easier to qualify for ( which is of course true ) the teams who won it over and over again in the past don win it very much now. Not your Madrids, not your Liverpools, not your Milans or your Bayern Munichs. Now why is this. These teams are always involved but why are they not winning it like they did before? You know the answer and you know I am right. I respect your history and its a great achievement but the future is always the aim. the fact liverpool have 5 just means we want 6. We dont want 6 because liverpool have 5 but because if we got 4 we would want 5, if we got 5 we would want 6 and when we get 6 we will want 7 and so on. Its the way of Man Utd.
Read my reply 1 post above. All the proof you need. Of course you wont be able to understand if your not smart enough so lets see what level of intelligence I am dealing with.
