Underestimate Man Utd at your peril. They are the champions for a very good reason. I'd happily take a draw and beat the lesser teams, teams like MK Kuala Lunpit

The chances of us beating man utd are good but we must remember they are still one of the best clubs in the world and wont be easy for us. The draw looks more likely if our team have jelled enough to the standard to beat a team like man utd but the odds are better than what they would be normally to get a positive result...

Totally agree Dai - they are one of the best teams in the world - Sir Alex leaving won't suddenly turn them into second raters.

It should be a great game and I will settle for a draw right now as I think it will take time for us to get firing with the newcomers needing a few games to get settled. Mind you come November we will be unbeatable <whistle>

Nobody is suggesting they will suddenly be second raters, but they could easily lose that edge. He's widely rated as the best manager ever, so he must have given them something

I am not for one second under estimating United at all. On the contrary apart from their change of manager nothing else has changed at all. So you could say from a tactical and personnel perspective we know exactly what they will be bringing. I am actually looking at it from our end. Our team will be a completely different entity from what played against them last season and lets be honest they added one of the best strikers in the world to their side last season and we easily competed with them. I don't see them changing much this season however we are much stronger and will pose more of a goal threat and therefore have a much better chance of beating them at home than previous seasons.

I'm definitely not going to say we will beat Man UTD because that is setting us up for a fall. I know we can beat them and I hope we do beat them but I won't be predicting anything this season! It'll certainly be a tough match against one of the world's best teams!

I think you can't ever just say 'yeah we'll beat Manchester United'... It's pretty difficult to ever be justified in such confidence for any team. They looked poor against us in both games last season, but had it not been rooney's worst united game in December, they could well have pinched that one as well as the game at Old Trafford. They have a ridiculous habit of finding results when they don't look like getting them and finding performances when their back is against the wall.

Having said that, they'll definitely be far less happy about coming down here on opening day than we are to welcome them and now we don't have the edge of not playing midweek European games, it's about as good a time as we'll find in the calendar for it.

Gonna be a fantastic atmosphere, huge support, not traditionally brilliant starters either, but even with all of that, u don't just beat united without the team performance of the season and a healthy portion of fortune. Exciting chance, but seen united do teams out of nothing way too often to say we'll beat them.

    Absolutely cannot wait tho!
