British and Irish players keep on scoring.. dam them. Interesting to see the young players score 7 - I suspect Zola will be quite impressed although maybe the opposition made loads of changes.
The lad is class Hoping this is the season he makes his breakthrough , No one puts the hours in or deserves it like him , on top of that he is well grounded and a nice lad to talk too last hornet hatrick was when ? lol
So Nice have pulled out of Sunday's game. Clearly worried by our fire power. http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/130711-nice-friendly-update-907261.aspx
With Bayern training close by, maybe we can organise a game against them. Be good to play a team closer to our level of skill!
Rumour is we will now be playing B Dortmund in Austria, the team heading to Austria today and playing Sunday. Dortmund have had their opponent cancel too Will be a good test of formation, which looks like it will become almost a 3-4-3
Confirmation; http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ce_Champions_League_runners_up_second_string/ But it's tomorrow - and a Dortmund B team!
I wonder what they mean by Dortmund B? According to their website, they have a 'pro squad' of 28 players and an 'amateur squad' that appears to consist of U23 players. The pro squad have played 3 pre-season games so far - with attendances of 49000, 26000 and 19000
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ce_Champions_League_runners_up_second_string/ Wobby update suggests the team will comprise of players from their top squad, currently at a training camp in Austria. There's a nice little piece added about the last time we played them - we can hope the result will be similar. Wonder if ofh remembers it - it was in 1954.
They're playing themselves tomorrow; http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/130712-italy-friendly-update-910710.aspx
The prospect of playing us was obviously too much for Dortmund... I guess that means a full game for everyone - bonus!
Nothing on either the Dortmund web site or their fans forum about a B match against us. If it were their B team (which is the same as the U 23 team) they would be at the level of German 3 Bundesliga (Lower half) and the chances of first team players being there would be very small because in German football A and B teams are run almost as different clubs with little interchange of personnel, I don't think they even train together.
Watford team: Almunia; Smith, Brown, Cassetti; Anya, Hogg, Romero; Abdi, McGugan; Assombalonga, Forestieri. Watford team: Bond; Doyley, Angella, O'Nien: Faraoni, Murray, Pudil; Fabbrini, Battocchio; Acuna, Deeney. Not sure which is A and which is B
