Definitely a good move, can't see him getting much game time with the new boys and Mr C being so good in that role...

"Liverpool loan Suso to Almeria for 2013-14 season

Liverpool forward Suso has joined newly promoted Spanish top-flight club Almeria on a season-long loan deal.
The 19-year-old playmaker, who played in the recent Under-20 World Cup with Spain, signed a new long-term contract at Anfield in October 2012.
Suso, signed from Cadiz in 2010, broke into the Liverpool first-team last season and made 20 appearances.
But Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has decided to let the player gain further experience in La Liga."

Would you have liked him to stay and add depth and warm the bench, or go out and get some game time? I would have liked him to stay in the PL on loan personally - but I still think a loan at this time in his career is a wise move.

    Thoughts?

Seems like a wise move really. He needs chance to develop and we need to see if he can play regularly at a high standard.

Suso needs the experience BUT we must make sure that he does not get the feeling of being isolated from the club. This lad's got too much talent to waste!

This. I agree the experience is vital for him, I would have liked to see him at Liverpool this year but doubt he would get the games. The loan may be good for him if he is made to feel wanted here and comes back to fight for a place. However, this feels like Pacheco mkII to me.

That's the big problem. The channels of communication have to be kept wide open. My gut tells me that we can't afford to lose his talents.

He has potential (big time) so this is his chance to prove he can fulfil it. Like you I hope this is just the next step in his Liverpool career.

  7. It is a good move for his development but not sure its the absolute best solution for the club. I'd have preferred to see him go to an English club, maybe even the Championship before Spain.

    Pacheco mkII imo

When are we going to pull the trigger with Pacheco and actually use the guy? He's 22 now so should be playing in the first team and starting to emerge as a world class talent. So far he and Suso (ok he's a few years younger) seem to both belong to that class of player who will always be potentials never actuals. It must be that we don't really rate either of them since they're presumably ready and willing yet we bring in new players who usurp them.

    1. pacheco has no pace... never did.

    2. pacheco was one footed

    3. suso learned application and work ethic off borrell.

    4. suso is genuinely 100% two footed.

    5. suso can play anywhere

In short there is no way its pacheco all over again. he's got the application to work hard and succeed. pacheco got 3 chances off us and each time he just was anonymous in preseason

  10. Pacheco mkII in that they have both dominated the youth competitions and reserves but I don't see either being as good as expected. I also think Suso will be like Dani in being loaned out to various clubs and never really making it at Liverpool.

Nothing to do with style of play!

Totally agree that Suso is better than Pacheco was (and still is) but there was a time (not too long ago) that Dani was the big hope and major clubs supposedly wanted him. Same for Suso last year but the attention is starting to die down as he gets a bit older and remains on.the brink.

My point about Pacheco mkII wasn't that they are comparable in ability or metal capacity, it was that this loan could see another promising youngster drop off into obscurity, much like Pacheco did.

  13. Didn't realise you'd said Pacheco mkII too. Its something I've been saying for about six months now.

Sounds like we're on the same page here too

I remember when Pacheco went on a brief loan to Norwich and appeared to do extremely well - scored a few goals and got some assists.

  15. He did alright but only played six games. He got two goals but I don't know about assists.

Suso is a talented player he may never be good enough but he will play top flight footy.

Suso has too much to his game to not make it. Can play in N.10 role or as a playmaking midfielder. This loan is brilliant for him. Regular games makes them man.

THIS is the only recent Dani has not made it. Small skillful players need regular games to adapt. You have to loan them out and to the right team so that they get the games.

Suso is still a a massive talent and will do well for us in the future.

Dani has a good future in front of him, but I fear it will not be with us. When he has had a run of games with teams he has been highly influential. WOuld love to see him with Suso at Almeria.

People may have Different opinions on Dani, but you are wrong if you do..lol

Been waiting to see DP perform well since his golden boot at the 2010 U19 Euros, I guess he just hasn't made the transition very well from that level to PL and this has been combined with limited opportunities.

I agree actually, I saw Pacheco a lot last season for the U21's and he was by far the best player and you just know he didn't belong there. The romantic in me still has a slight hope that he makes it here even if it is apparent that he wont. Still, I think he'll go on to make a good career for himself and it's a sin if his talent does go to waste.

I bet he'll (Pacheco) end up being our David Bentley.
