We don't need to overhaul the squad we just need to replace people and make a few minor upgrades. Mostly in the midfield and possibly another CB, since Jones and Smalling can't stay fit. Maybe a big buy in the midfield, De Rossi, Thiago, and a lower profile signing in the midfield would be enough to keep us on track as contenders in all major trophies. Any word on Garay? Was apparently just waiting to put pen to paper, but haven't heard a peep since. A few signings for the reserves/youth academy would be nice as well.
Think we might have the odd one in mind like Powell, Tunnicliffe, Cole and Lingard. We have some talent ready to test themselves yet people want/expect us to spend millions on players for the sake of a name made elsewhere. A player has to have a run in the first team before you can judge him, our poor midfield have just walked the premier league, i think we can afford to at least give the young pretenders a chance.
Don't think Tunni will make it. Not sure about Cole or Lingard, but I think Powell will step up this year and get some good chunk of game time.
Powell is going on loan. Good move. He needs 40 games a year to develop. Blackpool mooted. I'd be happy with that. I'm hoping Anderson gets a real chance this year in a more advanced role. He needs regular games as well and I think he's been poorly managed since he joined the club. Different manager could equate to different treatment. He's potentially very, very good. We've spent the money on him now so we might as well give him the chance to shine. I'd get him in the side in a clearly defined role and let him prove he's United class. If he's not move him on.
He would have been at UTD for 3 years max, then back to Barca, so I would like a player that would stay long term, than a short term fix
Problem is there aren't many CMs that are good enough for United available, De Rossi would be a short term fix. We haven't been linked with him yet this summer, but he'll probably just stay in Rome like he does every year.
I had and still have big hopes for Anderson, he has been played wrong but i feel he could have coped with that and made a massive difference to the team if his fitness didn`t let him down so often. Every time he gets an injury he is out months and it takes him too long to get back into the game.
I know he fades in and out of games but he could become more consistent with age, a lot of people compare him to Scholes, unfortunately i think it`s for his tackling
Anderson is very talented. He showed flashes of potential brilliance in his first full season including pocketing Fabregas and Gerrard. Since then he's been fat and injured which has been annoying.
We should offer Anderson a lifetime supply of Greggs pasties if he becomes the world class midfielder he should have become.
http://m.skysports.com/article/football//8824511 Jesus wept. Gotze and Thiago this Summer for Bayern. Already the best team in Europe anyway. I don't know how Pep will keep them all happy but they're streets ahead of us at the moment.
Guillem Balague on twitter said United were willing to pay clause 4 Thiago. But Pep believed in Thiago. Moyes not so much (will his football work in PL? Moyes wasnt sure) I guess Sir David has another player he is working on.
Thiago and Strootmen gone to other clubs then, will we go all out for Fabregas or a double swoop for Baines and Fellaini
