i think we saw last season we had players making runs from midfield but never had the ball to play them in. huddlestone could really do a job for us. i think we will be a lot more mobile and quick on the break and having someone with his abilty to pick a pass could really help us. plus we need strenth in depth. last season we were paper thin and missed players so having options can only be a good thing

Different type of player, but I can't help thinking of Teemu Tainio when reading this thread...

All i read was a piece of Spurs biased horseshit.

Huddlestone is a quality footballer and would be a terrific signing imo. He can thread a pass through the eye of a needle in a tight match and can retain possession too and we don't have anyone currently that can do that.

Points raised are valid, I've realised when watching him if someone closes him down energetically he can't get himself out. Given time and space though he's class.

His weakness shouldn't be much of a problem with how we'll play though. I.e. we won't keep possession a lot, so Huddlestone wouldn't really be vulnerable to being closed down. Get it move it on quickly

Duncan seems a hell of a player, dare I say better than super Kev and a bit like Bale, but can he do it in the premier league?. I am delighted with the players we have now. Catts does not go forward like Colback and Larson, and them days are over with Paolo in charge, this team will be the best I have ever seen in 37 years of supporting SAFC, we have finally made the right moves. There will be fierce completion now in all departments.

He's scored some ****ing good ones though :D

Play him regularly and he'll come good for you, if used right. The only surprise for me about this is that Di Canio seems to want high levels of fitness and whilst he worked really hard on his fitness last season, working harder than most at the club, there's probably still a few question marks over the amount of ground he can cover. He's a clever player though and suits a side with fast wingers who he can spray long balls out to with stunning accuracy.

I don't know if they've got one of those player videos on Youtube for his game against City but if they have it's well worth a watch to see him at his best. If not here's a thread discussing him on our board: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/207780-Let-the-Huddlefro-stay. The Pirlo(or Pirl'fro) comparison is slightly tongue in cheek but he is essentially a poor man's Pirlo(which is no disgrace) and if you got him playing at the top of his game, £5mill will be an absolute steal. It is a bit of a punt though due to his inconsistency and fitness but for £5mill you won't get anyone better, unless they have insane wages or are in their 30s.

Huddlestone is and I have said this for many years, a really quality footballer. He wont fizz about like a bluebottle in a jar all game but in the tight moments, when you need a clinical pass; retention of the ball or a goal from nothing, he is your man imo.

I rate him highly and for £4m or £5m he would be a steal. Spurs are way ahead of us right now and so although he may not get a game for them, he would us and we need players like Tom Huddlestone to get us closer to the likes of Spurs.

Meh. Wouldn't be that bothered. Would be a good addition, but for the money being quoted he's not the only one out there
