On a quiet Friday afternoon I thought it may be interesting to see the things that we all feel are a necessary part of the Norwich experience should an outsider wish to get the best out of our fair city.

Here are mine in no particular order

Climb the RC Cathedral Tower for the best view of the city
Guided tour of the C of E Cathedral
Finish your tour of Norwich cathedrals at Carrow Road
    Visit the Castle
    Chips on the market
Pint of flintknappers at the Coach and Horses
An evening of Belgian food and beers at the Belgian Monk
A pint of San Miguel on a sunny day sitting outside LaTasca
    Tapas at Torero
A pub crawl down Magdelene St followed by a curry at the Ali Tandoori
Take a boat trip down the river
    Modern-style curry at Oasis
    Thai at the Sugar hut
Picnic on Eaton park with the kids
    Visit the Sainsbury centre
    Do a ghost tour
A night at the Fat Cat
    Do the guided walks
Enjoy a beer with the film of your choice at Cinema City
See a gig at the Waterfront
See on of the winter comedy nights at The Forum

I am open to suggestions for anything I have missed.

    Pull's Ferry (without a doubt)
Cow Tower and a walk along the Wensum
    A view of Carrow Road
    Tombland
Mustard Shop in the Centre of the City (Bridewell Alley was better)
    Bridewell Museum

My abiding memory as a nipper is going with Dad to the Saturday auctions on the cattle market! The wonderful stuff we got there, when we got home Mum would look and say, "What the hell did you buy that load of squit for?"

    Happy days!

A jog up Gas Hill, just to disprove the (ludicrous) theory that Norfolk is flat <ok>

Or indeed, Mousehold, ignoring (or otherwise) the dogging!

BTW, hate to be a pedant, but it's 'Magdalen' Street - lots of people get that wrong <ok>

When I'm back in the fine city, this also tends to happen to me.

I've never been, but I gather the bishop's secret garden is impressive, off Earlham Rd behind RC cathedral?

I went to their newest one, the fat cat and canary (formerly mustard pot) before the youth under 18s final.
First time I had their honey ale - wow! <ok>

Wow that's excellent CC, didn't even know about that one - it certainly was a secret! Wonder how long that's been there? I used to walk that way yonks ago on the way to St John's school on Dereham Road. There used to be a rough woodland area around that bit of Earlham Road, wonder if that's now it?

Yes there's a four-acre 'secret' garden behind the Bishop's house. Did some work there a while back for the Bish, and took tea on the verandah! Terrific spot.
