On a quiet Friday afternoon I thought it may be interesting to see the things that we all feel are a necessary part of the Norwich experience should an outsider wish to get the best out of our fair city. My abiding memory as a nipper is going with Dad to the Saturday auctions on the cattle market! The wonderful stuff we got there, when we got home Mum would look and say, "What the hell did you buy that load of squit for?" Happy days!
Or indeed, Mousehold, ignoring (or otherwise) the dogging! BTW, hate to be a pedant, but it's 'Magdalen' Street - lots of people get that wrong
i usually get to the fat cat and then for some reason i forget to do the other things on my bucket list! not sure why...
I've never been, but I gather the bishop's secret garden is impressive, off Earlham Rd behind RC cathedral?
I went to their newest one, the fat cat and canary (formerly mustard pot) before the youth under 18s final. First time I had their honey ale - wow!
Wow that's excellent CC, didn't even know about that one - it certainly was a secret! Wonder how long that's been there? I used to walk that way yonks ago on the way to St John's school on Dereham Road. There used to be a rough woodland area around that bit of Earlham Road, wonder if that's now it? Yes there's a four-acre 'secret' garden behind the Bishop's house. Did some work there a while back for the Bish, and took tea on the verandah! Terrific spot.
Two cathedrals, two secret gardens...... things just get better and better this side of the river Waveney
The Heartsease estate to visit the house I grew up in and a pint in 'The Canary' at the end of the road.
Had the honey ale on tap at the hotel I used to work at, lovely stuff! Probably wasn't supposed to be drinking it though saw a lot of players there too, apparently ashley cole got chased down the corridor by a mad fan in nowt but a dressing gown once...
