Didn't want to start a new thread about this, but do you think we could hijack this Gino Peruzzi guy before the i's are dotted and the t's crossed down the road?

Is he good then? Can't say I've seen much Argentinian football.

I don't think we are desperate for a right back and he will want game time. Wouldn't get that here with Debuchy.

Italy or France for footballers? Not that hard a decision.

    Both.

    <laugh> Behave fella. <ok>

He's Pablo Zabaleta's deputy and natural successor. He made Neymar look average 3 times last season. Massive coup for us fella, huge, We'll be a stepping stone for him but with that comes profit and reinvestment.

    True dat.

Hmmm. Not so sure. Players from Italy have typically always struggled, right? Or am I missing something? I think back to some of the names who came from there and it's not a roaring success - Veron, Crespo, Borini, Aquilani, Tomasson off the top of me head.

I always thought the reason was Italy was such a slow-paced, tactical game whereas the Prem was mainly about speed. The cream of Italian football can do well in matches, but individually I think they lack something so I'd be cautious about signing so many, particularly when Di Canio is so young and doesn't necessarily have the experience to look at the wider picture.

Just a thought, but I can see the mass influx at Sunderland not really helping much at all. The full backs just replacing the established (and probably better) Danny Rose, Coback, Sessegnon both want out, Mignolet gone.....I dunno, doesn't look great on Wearside.

Hopefully. Asking an almost entirely new team to gel quickly... Always going to be a high element of risk.

Their four world cups says different.

    Vialli, Zola, PDC etc

I remember our lot saying that about the French Foreign Legion, you then finished 5th. Could be bad, could be good. Giaccherini has all but been confirmed as well. He looks quality. Who knows.

Sess doesn't want to leave, he signed a contract a year ago. We're willing to listen to offers but that doesn't mean he's on the transfer list. Plus the 5 goals he scored in 45 minutes in a behind closed doors friendly today tells me he's trying to to impress somebody. As for Danny Rose, well news is filtering through of a double deal for him and huddles. I like Colback and don't want him to leave but that's cause he's been with us for so long, we won't miss him. As for adapting to the premier league. It's all about conditioning. Paolo and his triple sessions will see to that.

So you tell yourself it doesn't look good on wearside but we're buzzing.

Respect your opinion but I don't think you'll find a single Sunderland fan who thinks it looks anything less than great on Wearside. If Giaccherini, Peruzzi, Huddlestone and Rose are signed by the end of the week our squad will be as strong as it's been for decades.

No, I just assumed that it was his attempt at being humourous... I think Stevie was actually born in Croyden or somewhere like that... moved up North when he was about six months old, so i'm told.

If you sign rose then that will be the main signing for you, quality player
Italians in general normally struggle bar the odd few but the law of averages say a few will come good.
Only concern I would have for you is the lack of british passion, the same problem we have at the minute look at the derby we were heartless.
Di canio is a motivator but a load of
Jonny foreigners in the winter could be a problem.

Maybe in a few years we will have the first non English player in either squad for the derby.

It's going to be an interesting season for loads of different reasons.

Sure, if the shoe was on the other foot I'm certain I'd be checking out those signings and feeling pretty solid about the season ahead. Thing is, you'd probably have the same opinions as I have, in that I can only really view it from my side and I'm not going to feel glum because my team brought in a host of new signings. All I am saying is that us lot felt pretty euphoric at the end of January, certain that top 10 was the very least we'd get to, especially after Sissoko destroyed Chelsea.

Then reality kicked in, the settling took a while even with everyone speaking the same damn language, then the manager got his stifling little paws on everyone and....well, the rest is (thankfully) history.

You were right to feel Euphoric mate. You've brought some very good young players. With the right coach your squad will work. You've got this one bloke, Carr, who knows exactly what he's doing and the rest are lost. You can have all the good players you want but unless they're receiving the right orders nothing is going to come of it. Jury is out on PDC, but if it doesn't work out the new structure in place allows us to ship him out and bring someone in without having to rebuild the squad from scratch. Our structure is clear and simple to follow because it's been set up correctly. Your DOF set up is far sicile, it's unclear and confusing. All you needed to do was sack Pardew and bring in Poyet, Di Mattio or Rafa, it was the obvious next step. You need to sell the club, Mike may know business but he doesn't have a clue about football, and doesn't seem interested in learning the ropes. He thinks he already knows it all.

A few Sunderland fans seem to think PDC is pulling the strings, they're wrong. He's picking players he fancies from a shortlist. it's Di Fanti who is the master. We're happy with the standard of player coming in but it's the club set up that has us happiest. We were so old fashioned. PDC being a faliure simply won't be the end of the world because everything else is right <ok>
