Couldn't understand why Forren was being put in as a starter either. Maya has surely shown enough last season to indicate that it would take a major signing to replace him automatically. Yoshida has improved as he has settled in....watch this space, he will get even better.
I'd probably pick Yoshida at the back as well but to be fair he wasn't in the starting eleven at the end of the season so it's not necessarily clear cut.
Well he had a knock at some point didn't he? But he was on the bench for the last 3 games. If he was fit enough for the bench in the 3rd last game it seems unlikely he was still too injured to start either of the last couple. Either way I agree with you that I'd pick him but I don't think he's so good that it's a no brainer.
I'd be more than happy with something like this: Subs: K.Davis, Fonte, S.Davis, JWP, Puncheon, Ramirez, new striker Sorry, not sure how to make the image bigger.
GK-Boruc RB- Clyne CB-Lovren CB-Maya LB-Shaw CM-Wanyama CM-Schneiderlin RAM-Ramirez CAM-Lambert/Banega (Unlikely I know ) LAM-Lallana/Jay Rodriguez ST-Lambert/JayRod/New Striker
With current squad: -------------------------Boruc--------------------------------- Clyne-----------Lovren----------Fonte--------------------Shaw -----------Schneiderlin-------------Wanyama------------------- -------------------------Ramirez------------------------------ Rodriguez-----------------------------------------------Lallana -------------------------Lambert------------------------------ If we signed Damiao, I think he would replace Lambert. Astori would replace Fonte. Banega would replace Lallana, and his position would be swapped with Ramirez. I know Pochettino doesn't seem to favour Fonte, but I don't care, this is my team, **** the haters.
Currently: Boruc Clyne - Fonte - Yoshida - Shaw Cork - Schneiderlin Puncheon - Ramirez - Rodriguez Lambert Ideally: Boruc Clyne Lovren Yoshida Shaw Wanyama Schneiderlin Ramirez Banega Lallana Rodriguez What Pochettino will play: Boruc Clyne Lovren Yoshida Shaw Wanyama Cork Ramirez Schneiderlin Rodriguez Lambert All 3 formations are very good, we are lacking in attacking talent atm, although lallana and ramirez have big room for improvement so I have high hopes. I actually quite like the thought of Schneiderlin in the Davis role, particularly if it means I never have to watch Davis again.
I think Lallana was the least impressive last season, but that may be because we expected so much of him. Hoping he will step up this season. Cork, on the other hand, has been terrific. As shown in recent stats, he has done more interceptions under Poch than Schneiderlin. What rich choices Mauricio has.
