    http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20130711-academy-earns-category-two-status-907490.aspx

''We passed the assessment with an extremely high percentage, and the auditors were very complimentary in relation to the football club in general and the academy in particular''

One thing the board have said and kept their word to is the constant support of the academy, and regaining category 2 status is something they as well as Paul hart and Nathan Jones should be very pleased with. Now to produce some more England internationials please <ok>

Our Academy deserves all the praise that comes its way. I hope the under-18 matches aren't mostly on match days, like they were last season.

Good stuff, if we can churn out some talent then those moaning about the lack of signings will stop annoying me!

Everybody is doing cartwheels so it is obviously wonderful. But I thought we were already at second tier status and itching to join the top tier?

Is this just an always expected confirmation of our second tier status under a new, and possibly more stringent, assessment system? In which case can we expect to see some of the teams we were playing last year drop down to the third tier, and perhaps some of the top tier teams which failed the new assessment drop down to our tier? That would indicate some progress. Or is it just an Alice in Wonderland Caucus Race in which everyone wins a prize?

Not to minimise my admiration for the work our academy guys are doing, and the imaginative way our owners are backing them. While we are waiting for some sugar daddy to put money into the club (and this will happen sooner or later because Charlton are such a good investment prospect compared to most League clubs) the Academy is our pride and joy.

But what exactly has changed, if anything, as a result of this news? In particular, does this give us any more protection against our best juniors being poached for trivial sums? Because unless we can put a quick stop to that no-one is going to invest more money in the academy.

Yes I thought we were already Cat. 2, but Paul Hart seemed so pleased about the news that I thought it must be pretty good. As far as the problem of poaching is concerned, let's hope there are more who realise they are better at Charlton, where they have a chance of first-team football, than at Chelsea or Manu, where they will drop into obscurity like Bostock, who has just gone to Antwerp. I assume that's why Archie Edwardes turned down Manu.

Thanks. I'm glad I wasn't the one one confused.

This is when it's biting back on me for not reading articles about EPPP and what's involved, what it means etc. I'm happy everyone else is happy.

Paul Hart seemed pretty pleased about some nice things which were said about our Academy, and I wonder what these nice things are?
