Have to agree with all the sentiments here. Chaplow had a golden period in the side where he was often one of the best players on the pitch, if not the best. Best wishes to him. Vegard Forren is an odd one. I hadn't seen anything of him before and what I could find I wasn't hugely impressed by. Competent, no doubt, but no improvement on what we already had. When he arrived he looked visibly overweight and didn't seem to start looking leaner with U21 games. It wasn't a great surprise to me that he didn't feature in the first team. FWIW, best wishes to him too.
I think we all expect a striker to join but with Forren leaving I can't see us leaving his position unfilled. Damiao, Astori and a decent winger would make the squad incredibly strong.
Yeah that would put us in a with a good shout of top 6 next season, I can see us making strong signings in both positions.
Not surprised by the Forren news. He didn't even get a look in when we had injuries. He came to us at a bad time when we had just lost Nigel...obviously failed to impress Mauricio. Sad thing to happen.
I personally can't see us bringing another CB in, unless Fonte is sold (maybe it's just me, it i didn't get the impression last season that Poch particularly rates him). I wish Chaplow all the best though. He was brilliant at the start of last season, and also plays a little useful hand in L1 for us. Yes the injury last season put paid to that great early start, but that's not going to make me forget it. Hopefully he can recapture it.
Look at that font, who the f*** do they think they are? They should be using comic sans, for obvious reasons
This will give Chaplow a chance to get himself a decent deal with nothing to pay Saints. A reward he deserves.
Well you need to get out of that sort of negative and paranoid mindset and jump aboard the fun bus to happy land.
I was there when Vegard Forren played a match for the club :') ... but what a waste of money for the club. Good Luck to Chappers, and thanks for the part you played in the journey ... won't be forgotten!
Watched Forren playing with the nippers a month or two after his arrival, admittedly he was maybe not fully fit, but I thought he looked awful. Most half useful players shape up even when they are having a poor game, but I thought on the night he looked well out of his depth, his positioning, decision making and ball control was awful. So I'm not greatly surprised by this move.
So much for my new found hope when Forren rebuffed approaches from his old club. Any chance this was a backwards loan with an option to buy? Buy with an option to return for a re-stocking fee? Little bit unhappy with the defensive options after this.
