    Sound advice.

Best to speak to someone who has no preconceptions of who and what you are.

Depression is indeed a terrible thing. A pal of mine shot himself at the weekend, hardly anybody knew there was anything wrong with him. One of the most cheerful, fun-loving blokes you could ever hope to meet, but he was obviously just bottling it up. Luckily he has no missus or kids, but his family are obviously devastated. Pyoor mental.

I would suspect there was no red wine found at the scene.

There is no 'treatment' as such for depression, all the meds do is mask the effects.

There is a fundamental difference between people that are 'depressed for a certain reason' and those who are clinically depressed. The former are not actually depressed at all, the confusion arises between the words 'depressed' & 'unhappy'. A situation or event can make you unhappy, a mental illness called depression makes you depressed.

Any medication available has no real degree of 'control' over a mind, they tend to simply mask & calm.

Many people become dependant on prescription drugs, personally, I still had enough awareness to realise the medication was making me worse.

Some people will do anything to avoid the stigma of being labelled 'mentally ill' but it's purely self-defeating - if you want to live your life with any degree of joy, then you have to be honest enough to look yourself in the eye and tell yourself the truth, a truth based on the facts that you have to take time to gather.

Just remember that there is no cure for depression.

You could win the lottery, marry the finest woman on the planet... if you're depressed, then it won't stop the misery.
You need to work hard at finding what it is that gets you through each day by trying different things.

Good luck to those affected, the rest of you can 'have a nice day', by your own choice. <ok>

    Strange thread.

Sounds like how I feel when a 90th minute goal puts the coupon doon.
