http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-qpr/2013/07/11/qpr-step-up-crouch-pursuit-82029-33595116/ If he's available for £1million, I think it's a good bit of business. A good character to have around the squad and he'll chip in with some goals. It would also ease any pressure on relying on Bobby Zamora remaining fit for the entire season.
Precisely ............ unless there has been a change of heart by Crouch's team. Besides, only turkeys go to Turkey.............. ie: Anton ( and maybe his mother to drive him around and all that )
If there's one club he'd take a pay cut for it would be us, and I'm sure we could add stipulations/bonuses to his contract if we get promoted. I would give him a 2 year deal.
Sounds like a good offer .................... how about throwing in a free hip replacement as the deal cruncher!
Not for me. Not mobile enough, can't hold up the ball when played as a lone man, can't chase down opposition defenders coming out with the ball and wages way too high. Is he that much better than a fit BZ? Noooooooooooo👎
As a bit part player it could work. If he is also earning from his TV role, maybe his wage demands would be lower? Not for me if he is expecting full contract wages. We could use the money more effectively. More concerned about a midfield player to replace Tarrabt, who can play the ball forward and into our forwards; otherwise they will have nothing to do anyway.
I'd rather have more of a hitman like Hooper. We already have too many strikers that aren't prolific enough, we need a goalscorer. I may well be lambasted on here for saying this but I'd rather we'd signed Grant Holt than play Zamora. At least fatty knows where the goal is, which is an important trait for a striker.
A good player who will score for fun in the NPC. Not sure we need him, BZ & AJ together. Only room for one of them. Probably better choice out of the lot of them.?
I saw Danny Simpson's comments in his Q & A session and he mentioned Andy Johnson has actually impressed him more than any QPR player. He said his movement was ridiculous. Surely a good sign.
As long as he can still move when the season begins. He looked quite good for the few games he played together with BZ at start of last season.
If AJ had stayed fit last season it would have been one of the variables that might have kept us in a much better position. The way he had BZ played away against Man City was really very good. He didn't exactly terroise the Man City defence but he certrainly created some doubt in their solidity. If they remain fit, I think there is no room for Crouoch even though he is a QPR fan and would play for the badge.
I liked what little I saw of AJ last season. If he can stay fit he will prove to be a great asset. He's a tireless worker who can make defenders go into areas that make them uncomfortable, thus creating room in and around the box for others. Having said that, that's why I feel ( as said above ) we need an out and out striker and an attacking midfielder who can get into the right areas that will score us goals. Given that we only scored 12 goals at home last season, this point needs addressing.
If anyone wants to know why I hate signing old players for a lot of money. Crouch 2 years ago =£12, Crouch now = £1m Its throwing money down the drain.
Crouch to QPR was reported in The Ealing Gazette this w/e. It is not on their site so I cannot post a link. I do think this one is gaining momentum.
Johnson - I liked what I saw of Johnson, all 25 minutes of it v Chelsea, last year. Needs a goalscorer next to him, will never score loads, injury risk Zamora - he could have been a great bullying number 9, but only delivered to the max v Arsenal at home last year. Clearly crippled, non goal scoring striker Mackie - very limited player, though he might go on a mad scoring run like at the beginning of the Championship season. Remy - class act, only here because of the rape case. If this is dropped before the end of the window he's off, if it comes to nothing he's off in January, if it comes to something he's in court/prison. Let's wait and see, attitude will be interesting. Youth - none good enough apparently, our youth set up is incapable of identifying and developing talent. Dire straits up front. Hooper definitely worth a punt if the deal is reasonable. Crouch - he's been a good player for a long, long time. Probably too long, never prolific and this 'playing for the badge' stuff doesn't work for me.
