Italian centre back - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrea_Rannochia I've always thought we needed more defenders and no strikers personally...
Ranocchia? another CB, Moorph? bizarre. That's probably bull****. It is talk****e after all. if we don't end up agreeing on Benteke as the demands become too much, I actually have no idea who we'd get that would: a) improve us b) be affordable we're still at an early stage of the window, but the movement is beginning to happen. Every target that seems like an improvement on what we have, also seems like a no go. Villa, Damiao, Soldado, Higuain, Negredo, Benteke (possibly, if AV ask for too much). I reckon we'll end up with Remy. He'll be like our "Dempsey" signing of last season. - An end of the window job for about 5mill, with QPR knowing they've got to get shot of him. Right now, I'd take him TBH.
not necessarily. Remember 2 of his mates already play for us and he knows he'll be the first choice striker. it's whether villa play ball.
I'm sure Chelsea offering him about £50k a week more than us will turn his head...just a teensy bit mind
Yeah, me being one of those people. Again, we need a reality check. Its not happening because we won't pay the "going rate". - even if the "going rate" is OTT. - we have the likes of City, Chelsea, PSG etc to thank for that. Unfortunately, we still don't have a top striker. I say we sign Remy, who wont be expensive. That allows Ade to go to Besiktas, and we've got ourselves a better replacement in (IMO). It also doesn't then make us seem to desperate for a striker! We might actually have some bargaining power in negotiations for another one!
I think Remy is pretty much as bad as Ade though - plus didn't he get sent off and/or injured for most of the time with QPR? I also think this court case will be used against him by opposition players to rile him up. On a side note - we'll still only have 2 out and out strikers in Defoe and Remy (Dempsey as backup), so we'd be just as 'desperate' as before surely?
I thought Remy looked good, he certainly isn't lazy like Ade,scored a couple of cracking goals to.we could even suggest a swap for Parker, seeing as QRP don't want to spend money, and harry wants Parker
what I saw of Remy last season, I thought he was very good, especially considering he wasn't part of a particularly good team. - he did well. Adebayor had about 3 good games, one being against chelsea, where loads of people decided to forgive him and start making excuses for his woeful season... which was beyond me to be honest. So for me, 6 months of Remy wins all day long. In the end, we might have the same number of strikers, but having got rid of one and replacing him with a shiny new one doesn't make us look quite so desperate. For all anyone knows, we could have always been happy with that amount of strikers, but just have needed an upgrade??!! It certainly can't do us any harm to do that. I really don't know who we're going to get. Any striker is going to be a risk if we want them to tick every box on this "checklist" we seem to have. we need to much and can't afford any failure whatsoever. - That's why top strikers cost money. The Bale idea was sort of a joke, but I can see it happening.
I said a few pages back that most teams have 1 20 goal a season player. We do as well - might as well play him in the middle where he'll score even more and reinforce the wings to give him more support.
Great - we get a striker who has scored a couple of decent goals in the PL and showed a feckin' awful attitude and behaviour in doing so. And we lose a striker who could well have been our POTY 2011/12 and has a proven record at the highest level...... Mmmmmm, now let me think about that one......
He's been sent home from their training camp in Devon hasn't he ? Returned from his summer break overweight and then turned up late for training.
