Maybe it wasn't Andy then, but there was someone on there who did great reports. Medcalfe was the fanzine guy, wasn't he actually. I stand by my southern supporter comment though. Maybe it was before or after you were , who knows. Edit: Oops, didn't quote.
I mentioned London as that is where you are so assumed that would be the place you were most likely to come across these people. You are putting words in my mouth, I did not say it was impossible. I said it was difficult to believe. And will remain so until I have actually come across some of these people personally.
I think you are thinking of Steve Weatherill. Eventually the match reporter duties were passed around. I think the fanzine Andy you are thinking of is Andy Dalton who is editor of Amber Nectar. I think the majority of TigerChat contributors were not southern based. I also think it is unfair to be quite so broad with your generalisations although I would say that there was a clique who definately tried to impress and amuse each other to the detriment of the majority.
I am in London but I did travel further afield and met these people, places like night matches at Swansea when the next train back to London was after 4 am. Sorry if you think I was putting words into your mouth. I didn't mean to. I retract "You can't see it" and "You can continue to believe it is impossible" and I'll replace it with your longer sentence of "Sorry, but I just can't see anyone in London with absolutely no connection to Hull and with no family with no connections to Hull deciding to support City."
Ellwood on here!! Now Peter aboutthis denim on denim on denim. As the leading fashionista on here i sense a worthy adversary!! What make of denim are we talking? Do you mix and match brands?
I don't know anything about fashion or clothes. I remember a mate of mine going into a store and he'd be trying on tee shirts and dancing in front of the mirror. When I got tee shirts I'd just scoop up a pile of them as quickly as possible. When appropriate I would just look bewildered until a nice shop assistant would take pity on my and select tee shirts for me. I'd always want plain tee shirts as I hate slogans or messages. Actually, next time I get tee shirts or sweatshirts I will get them customised with a couple of slogans I do like.
Peters so cool he doesn't even know he's cool. Sorry Chazz but you're trying too hard. Give it up man, give it up. You're not the next Gok.
It's not a case of looking down on people for getting on board after Wembley, especially if they're young. As has been said before, its' how many of these people will stick with us through the bad times. I'm talking about 1982 receivership bad times. not 'dull Nigel Pearson's overly cautious football' , by the way. The DNA of the club is in the long term supporters who have seen very dark days indeed as well as 2008 onwards. These people have passed their test and are proven. The new ones haven't. There's no getting round this unpalatable fact. New fans are always welcome, even more so when they keep their heads down and buy into the the ethos and culture of our club rather than attempt to subvert it into a tame hybrid of Facebook, TOWIE and Soccer AM.
Interested to know of a few examples and why they chose to support City if they or their family had no connection to Hull. I know of people from Hull and East Riding who decided they are "fans" of Man U, Liverpool, Leeds, Arsenal, Chelsea ( but have come across none from this area who chose Rochdale, Crewe or Gillingham for some reason) but none from those places who opted for City over their local club. Did come across someone from Saudi Arabia who is working Hull and is a football fan who goes to City as he feels it was ordained as his team from Saudi has the nickname The Tigers with a tiger's head badge.
And so if our club never goes through bad times again, they'll never be proper fans like you are. What complete rubbish. The only reason we've seen dark times at our club isn't because we're better fans, it's because we're older. Cavey (City fan since '98)
