Of course there's no quotes, as whoever leaked the information didn't want to be quoted ffs!

The story is written by one of the BBC's top football journo's, he's not just made that story up lad. If he had, then the club & the players people would have been all over that saying it was total bollocks & either no meeting took place or that there was a totally different outcome.......has there been anything of that nature? No......Why? Because it's almost certainly true.

Keep believing it's all the nasty press's fault mate, you'll probably still be blaming them when he's wearing a Madrid shirt....

I don't think it's the presses fault as such - it's people like you who mop it all up and believe everything you are told who keep the fire burning.

There must be about 100 reports across the world on the Suarez situation every single day - all true are they? We should come out and deny every one of them with a statement each day too? No one would get any work done ffs.

You are taking what I've said to the extreme, I am just saying that Suarez has not once said publicly that he wants to leave Liverpool Football Club and neither has his agent - that is one thing that can not be denied.

I'm not stupid, if RM want him then he will go, simple as that - but the press ARE making it out like he has said the above when he hasn't.

Oh come on folks, take away all that crap.

This is Anfield had it right today; here is a guy who having said he wants privacy & is generally treated mean by the British press has gone as far as telephone interviews while on holiday: some strive for privacy that eh?

He knows they're sharks but barely a week goes by without him opening his mouth in at the very least a way that is open to the very misinterpretation he claims to be a victim of.

Yes he's talking to his home press but you don't aggravate the shark on a weekly basis if you claim it upsets you and the wife and you intend to return. He knows what our press are doing with the interviews so why would you keep stirring the pot if you are coming back? He had an opportunity to be off the radar for everything bar playing for his country!!

If he was staying he wouldn't be vague he'd have made one clear statement in the knowledge that a big offer would be listened to by LFC even if he had only said he's happy to stay!

You can debate what is said or not said; what the correct translation etc etc but how many other LFC players are making weird vague "nothing in it but if there is!....."press announcements once a week.

And for the last time. Each one isn't a rehash story. The story may be rehashed by 7 different British media outlets afterwards but they originated from (on my count) 5 separate interviews in 6 weeks.

The repetitive nature shows a guy who wants to keep his name in people's minds all summer. If you're stating you want them to lay off why would you do that? I mean even if he doesn't go he's insuring that we're in the same place with the media come September...

He wants gone and for £40M he can **** right off and I wish him the very worst.

No selling to PL teams though,

Too right I was, I hate players acting in this manner, but ultimately they hold most of the power post Bosman. We fought against the Lescott issue for too long & got battered 6-1 at home by Arsenal on the opening day of the season with him in the side & playing like a drain.

lol, I take some of the press with a pinch, but respected journos usually only peddle what they're told, they wouldn't last 5 minutes otherwise. Agents, clubs, players, managers, club PR people, etc etc ALL use the press to get their messages out there. I personally know a football club Director & also a football agent, believe me - they ALL look to manipulate the press, it's all part of the 'game'.

As for Suarez & his agent not publicly being seen to demand a move, that's more about 'loyalty' payments than it is a desire to stay imo. He's said enough in that regard to show what his intentions are, he's off, it's just a matter of how long the pantomime is going to take to play out. I'll have you any money you like, that he'll never play for Liverpool again.

glad you see it this way... just like i can say i know you are just after using the same scenario with suarez (not quite but close enough) to wind lads up right now for the laugh... I totally agree was forcing the 23mil or whatever it was out of city worth the bad start to the season that year? who knows. but if you'd played ball with city and said heres the price lets get this done a month before would you have got better signings? again who knows.

I just hop LFC get the deal done and buy a forward, amicable seals are far better than protracted fights where the loser is preordained..... suarez cannot lose here... real cannot lose here. only lfc will lose if it goes to the wire on aug 31st. everyone really knows it cos suarez is out for 6 games and can play average but not great until january and our season is over as a result. I am personally convinced wenger will come out and laugh off these rumoured bids and then it'll be square one which is seeing if real will in fact bid or no.... BUT if cheslea or city bid 40mil i'd sell. i'd rather extract the silly moeny out of these clowns but if they did bid i'd sell him to them as hey... reality check we don't compete with them but 2 times next year and marking suarez is easy as proved by james collins.... no pace = follow him out the pitch let him turn then rob him every time.... both teams have mroe dangerous players IMO... mata and aguero are just wonderful stars and even looking to silva you can see a different threat. suarez is a shot early, nug megging, instinctive finisher who you want to keep outside your pen area where he is not going to pick a pass like coutinho nor beat a man with pace. GOals and monets of genius make him great, but the moements of lunacy mean 40-50mil is daylight robbery.

Get that in and get it spent, don't sit on your hands hoping a guy who's next ban will be 6 months calms downs and behaves.

I agree MITO & I think the Arsenal 'interest' is all part of the game personally, I think he's Madrid bound & has been from the minute they tapped him up.

Take your money early & if you can use it to land Benteke, then the World won't look so bad come August.......

meh.... benteke aint coming to us...... arsenal are a fake story IMO..... i agree he's in direct contact with clubs on the continent.... chelsea just tapped someone up so its how these guys work. guardiola sat down for free tea and bickies with ayre while our chief executive twiddles his cheap bic pen and all the while guadiola has a deal in his pocket with real. its all about stringing it out to august.

"I'll have you any money you like, that he'll never play for Liverpool again."

be careful with that quote tobes, i don't gamble lucky for you lol and i get your point to a degree, but he will ONLY be off if the value we have put on him is met, we all accept he wants off and Real know this, but doesn't mean they get him cheap, but i would be seriously pissed at our owners if we let these assholes manipulate the situation ie Real and Luis.

i see a player being used as a sweetener myself, plus prob £25 -30 mill, but who know idea.

don't give a monkeys either way anymore, but the sooner this pantomime is over the better, whatever the outcome maybe, stay or go fecking hurry up and get on with it!!

The beeb made up an entire article from one bit he said on TV back home.

    BBCs chief sports writer<laugh>
McNulty is a hack who spouts many hack pieces and many of them are just either telling you what you already know or blow with the current wind articles, he rarely if ever submits a piece of journalism.

When we get an offer and accept it and or a transfer request goes in from Luis then I'll be happy to accept what I am reading, otherwise it's off season media bollox till then.

Tobes, are you SERIOUSLY suggesting McNumpty has never made anything up? I think he was sourcing all your inaccurate crap during the H&G court case, for instance. I do, however, agree with you on this one, albeit from a different angle, in that I believe FSG have been briefing the press from day one and have been preparing to sell Suarez from the moment the buffoon bit Ivanovich's arm. It's inevitable now, and I believe Luis has probably been told as much by the club.

That's not to say Luis is some innocent in this - he patently isn't. But two things will happen when he goes:- 1) Whether he plays in this country or abroad he will get into trouble again, as that is his nature, but as he won't be playing for Liverpool the press will not get anywhere near as hysterical, nor will the relevant ruling body penalise him at double or treble the usual tariff in order to curry favour with the public and the media. 2) The media swap the spotlight from Suarez to some other Liverpool player when he goes (my bet is Aspas - the Mail have started already) as it is a winning formula (you yourself referred to what they'll do to sell newspapers) and Liverpool, specifically FSG, have brought this onto themselves with their supine and craven reaction to the initial Evra ban.

We'll see - and we will - because we all agree Suarez is going this summer, so come next summer will be the proof of the pudding. He'll be at a new club, he'll have had at least one 'incident', the press will treat him immeasurably fairer, and another Liverpool player will be the subject of a national/press witchhunt. This is my marker.

40m+ Alonso could be a good deal for us, We could probably get more, but as already stated its pretty obvious that management want rid.

    That's a deal I would take <ok>

He's definitely going in my opinion - The sooner a decent offer comes in and he goes the better. Shiiiit all this waiting around could scupper our chances of re-investing the money.

He is world class and any team would have him without his antics. We're gonna make a profit on what we paid, so sell him soon. Another season with us he's bound to get up to no good at some point throughout the season - therefore, dragging our club through another mass media ****fest. We need a nice calm season and let our football do the talking....

If we managed 40mil + Alonso and reinvested that 40mil wisely we could have a very strong squad. Saying that finding a good new striker is going be hard, they're going like hot cakes at the moment.

I hope BR isn't relying on what we have minus Suarez, as the new boys might have a shock adjusting the the PL.

Thank God the Coutinho and Sturridge deals worked out great - otherwise we could/would be in **** street right now.

Imagine having to have some twat like N'gog up front to lead the line.......as before!!

    #1378
  19. Wouldn't a Suarez replacement be a new boy too? <whistle>

We already have his replacement in Coutinho, invest the money on improving the squad including a forward.

A fully fit Sturridge and Coutinho are invaluable to our attack, and will mitigate the effect of Suarez's absence.
