The position is Garrido's Olsson must take it from him.

We might even see both play down the left !!

Good point, I suppose it provides a bit more competition for Pilks!

Whittaker and Olsson both can play further forward. Maybe we'll be able to start some games 5-3-2 using them as wingbacks <yikes> :emoticon-0105-wink:

there's a strong link with the Netherlands and Belgium (to East Anglia ) indeed cromer. they would be experts at pumping out a lot of water! didn't a lot of the textile 'knowledge' in holland come from the east?

Not to mention the dreadfully resplendent Dutch gables on the ends of buildings. Some excellent examples in Norwich cathedral close - maybe Leroy could live there? <ok>

I like how this has quickly turned from Robert Chase to finding a home for Leroy!

Dave has started a new thread for all those "Chase out" radicals.

Now we need a separate thread for "Leroy in" <ok>

Historically Norwich was the leading non-conformist city in England which, combined with our handy location just the other side of the North Sea led to us having one of the largest populations of religious refugees from the Netherlands. There are many examples of Dutch architecture such as Strangers Hall in the city, the Dutch were responsible for a lot of the design work on the Broads and our Canary logo came from the birds reared by the settlers. At one time Dutch was as widely-spoken as English around Norwich market and was the language of commerce. A lot of the wealth of the city arose on the back of Dutch immingrants utilising new techniques in the textile and weaving industries. At their high point in the 16th century the Dutch Strangers comprised more than a third of the population of the city. The dutch introduced the first printing press in the city paving the way for Jarrolds and Archant and Maddermarket is named after the Flemish word for a red dye.

I think I may have gone slightly off-topic but it has to be said that the history of our fair city is both varied and interesting and I would thoroughly recommend all forum members taking advantage of the Heritage Week in September where you can go round loads of buildings and learn lots about Norwich's history at zero cost. I had the privilege of taking a walking tour with the chief archaeologist of Norwich around Tombland and the Cathedral and it was fascinating and slightly worring to realise how little I knew.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I just read on the Liverpool board that Leverkusen are leading the chase for Alderwerald

No idea who is 'leading' the chase. Leverkusen, Liverpool and ourselves are all supposed to be in the hunt though. Spurs were mentioned a little while ago too.
