I'd have troy deeney after last season, thought he looked ace. Always thought he was **** until recently.
He knows the criteria - he obviously will have had a plan B in case something happened to the Austin deal and it is the first bit linked in with the second bit of the quote where he is in effect trying to say "we could sign x, y, a, a, b, c, d, e, f etc but we won't" which makes me believe we have got an advanced progression on a transfer and that comment is bigging up whoever it is "because you fit our criteria, we aren't just signing you because you are available". Sorry if that is rather random thoughts in a reply to you Tommy
Deeney sentenced to 10 months for affray in 2012. How would the Mboyo factor in that leave people feeling?
It's the right way to do things, having contingency plans and all that. I'd love to see Deeney here, but expect an Austin sized price tag on him. He did, however, go to prison for affray. Still, 20 goals and all that.
If I remember rightly, somebody said that going to prison should be the end of things and that rehabilitation is simply an advocation of the crimes that the inmate committed. Which is a ****ing stupid thing to say. And when did it become a prison sentence to give somebody a ****ing good kicking?! How do kids in schools get by these days?
I just hope whoever we get in we'll be able to look upon him as a great option, to recover from the disappointment of the Austin situation. Don't want a 'make do, second option' striker.
Indeed, as is being 25 when you do it as opposed to 16. And being part of a gang as opposed to being the prime mover. Or being a professional footballer kicking a man in the head or a 16 year old being swept along as part of a gang that you are afraid of. Or even twatting someone who is taking a picture of you as you have a piss. Or something you did 10 years ago as opposed to something you did 1 year ago. My question was where do we draw the line? I don't have an answer. I was interested in other peoples views.
To be fair, I think the scrap is unlikely to see you banged up, I think the problem here was he kicked him in the head a few times and could have done some serious damage.
Deeney, Mboyo, who gives a ****. Both appear to have learned there lessons and be better people for it. It's not as if either of them are Marlon King and Cov and Brum fans managed to get over it...
Don't mind sitting near someone who had a fight once...haven't we all. Don't mind cheering on someone who had a fight sometime in the past.. As for Mboyo...no thanks.
Deeney genuinely looks to have learnt a massive lesson from it all as well - he got out of jail early for good behaviour and showing remorse for what he had done, and for the reason it was his first offence. When Watford beat us at the KC, I remember going on Twitter expecting a load of 'the big I am' type stuff from Deeney, but he actually said it was a great contest between two great teams and said it was one of the best atmospheres he had played in, saying both sets of fans made it a great night. I was surprised. Someone had also tweeted him saying something about going on a big piss-up after such a great win and he tweeted back that he'd given up on drink for now bar the occasional tipple after what had happened.
Once again we get onto a question time discussion. No one apart from Mboyo knows what was going through his head at the time while he was doing what he did, like no one apart from yourself knows what is going through your mind if you are involved in starting a fight (never done that). In terms of whether we should sign players involved in either street brawling or rape - at the end of the day our chairman and manager have the final say on who we do buy. I have a feeling that both do have a high moral code
Troy Deeney is very quick to loose balls and snaps them up, he's strong and has natural agression.. I'd have him & Cole.. whooshh.....
Don't start this again. Deeney proved he can score last season, but I don't think he was prolific before that? Look at Grant Holt, a couple of good seasons and now back to where his level is.
Age is a great leveller but I'd settle for a striker who could have a couple of good seasons for us in the Premiership,at this point.Plenty of time to consolidate for the future.
Seems like this is the appropriate thread for a few of names; Andy Johnson, been out for ages with a cruciate but he knows where the net is on his day and despite seeming like he's been around forever is still 32? Kenwyne Jones, blows hot and cold in my opinion but a real handful. Curveball is....Shane Long. Last year of his WBA contract and Steve Clark seem to be shaking things up there, especially if they defy the odds and get Lukaku back. Out of our price range? It is a who now thread so don't kick off please.
I seem to recall Gerrard getting away with kicking someone, how did that ever work out anyway? Back on topic, I'd love to see Kenwyne Jones but think his wages may be too much, Deeney & Macail-Smith would be good shouts as Champ strikers to step up. I still think this Austin thing will come back to bite us.
And when did it become a prison sentence to give somebody a ****ing good kicking?! How do kids in schools get by these days?[/QUOTE] I will see if I can arrange a debate for you with my mate who was given a right good kicking in front of his young family. I will not go into the details about the effects this has had on his kids. You sound like a proper dick to be honest
