Newcastle are swooping for PSV Eindhoven keeper Jeroen Zoet in a deal set up by new supremo Joe Kinnear.

Holland Under-21 international Zoet, who has spent the last two seasons out on loan at PSV's Dutch rivals RKC Waalwijk, is heading for Tyneside after the clubs thrashed out a £2.5 million fee.

The 22-year-old will be understudy for fellow Dutchman Tim Krul, but his arrival may increase the chances of the Geordies' highly-rated number one being sold.

Is he being brought in as an understudy, or just as a way to make some cash out of Tim? Would hate to see Krul go!

Krul will most probably leave. It will probably be Elliot - Zoet - Alnwick , Krul to leave on the last day of the transfer window, money to be spent in January, blah blah ****ing blah. etc

Unfortunately I think Joe got a little confused when Ashley said " get me a champagne signing " and thought the guy was called Moet.

Really hope it's as an understudy to Krul. Elliott's poor decision making and tendancy to flap makes him unsuitable for being number 2 gk let alone number 1 - surely this can't have gone unnoticed.

He has been thought of as a 'Happy Flapper' in the past.

Okay I just checked all of the reliable Dutch sport news media and only the AD wrote a little piece about this rumour, quoting the Mirror. But me personally I'd call this rumour complete bullocks. And here is why:

In the last three seasons PSV had a lot of trouble finding the right goalie. They started with Swedish international goalkeeper Isaksson. But due to inconsistent and poor performances PSV was forced to buy Przemysław Tyton from Roda JC. After a good start the Polish got injured and when he returned he was benched over Isaksson. Last summer there was hope that things would change in Eindhoven and that with the departure of Isaksson, Tyton would finally have a chance. But no, PSV brought in the free agent Boy Waterman on a one year deal.

The 2012-2013 season was one to forget for Eindhoven. What should've been a year of festivities and trophies as the club celebrated it's 100 years of existence, the club won nothing. 2nd place in the league, no cup, nothing. Just the Johan Cruijff Shield but that has little value. So Boy Waterman's contract was not extended and left the club two weeks ago.

Now after two years of being loaned out to RKC Waalwijk, Zoet is called back to PSV and would have likely be the first choice goalie for the club as he was absolutely fantastic at RKC. And me personally, I see him as the next Maarten Stekelenburg. He is already at such a high level that I can´t fathom why PSV woul let him go. He is the ideal goalie after selecting years of absolute failures of goalkeepers. Zoet has brilliant reflexes and is mentally outstanding: his focus and decision making is impeccable. His commanding in the box is fantastic and he is quick of the line too. I can't count the number of times he made brilliant saves at RKC but they are numerous.

So here is my verdict: IF Newcastle can get Zoet for 3 million pounds it's the bargain of the season. Ditch Elliot and sell Krul because this fella is the next goalie star from The Netherlands.

The problem is mate will Pardew play him if we did manage to sign him? Even if Krul left he would probably stick with Elliot. The way we have treated Anita thus far has been shocking and I would hate to see us do it again with another talented player.

Some reports say the offer was turned down by PSG so no surprise there AND while most Premiership clubs are signing strikers we could do with we wait while Joke in Ear enjoys his summer holidays. You just cant make it up.

Appreciate PSG were rich but didn't know they owned PSV Eindhoven.

For a laugh, I had a look at all confirmed strikers that have been signed by Prem clubs, just to see what level of depression we should be at. Here's the list.

    Cardiff - Cornelius.
    Everton - Kone.
Hull - George Boyd. (I'm being generous, he's a winger too)
    Liverpool - Aspas.
    Norwich - van Wolfswinkel.
    Sunderland - Altidore.
    West Brom - Anelka.
    West Ham - Carroll.

I may have missed one or two, but that's purely down to not having the faintest idea who they are (for example, Sunderland may well have signed 7 strikers for all I know, but I've only heard of Altidore). Of the above, I am not sure - hand on heart - that I'm bothered we "missed out". van Wolfswinkel at Norwich is the only possible issue, but as I understand it now he's an out and out striker, poacher and if I'm not mistaken what WE need are link players who have a bit more to their game, either as playmakers, wingers or target men. Also, unless the Premier League is now just 14 teams, that doesn't make "the majority", right?

That said, I just realised it's the 10th of July. Fck - we've only got around 50-odd days til the window closes! DISASTER STRIKES THE TOON AGAIN....oh, woah is me....

It's obvious to us all that Joe is a gifted visionary, the likes of which Nostradamus could only dream of being. I therefore suggest that about 21 years ago Joe in his infinite wisdom took himself off to Brazil, Spain, Holland, France and Scandanavia where he sired many sons in the knowledge that come the time he would be the father and advisor to a group of young men who were blessed with a combination of his own sublime footballing skills and the cultural temperament of their respective countries of birth. When Mike presented Joe with the opportunity he'd always dreamt about he knew exactly what he could bring to the table, arguably the greatest " cloned " team on the planet.

I for one cannot wait for the destruction of Man City on the first day of the season.

Don't think even MA would be tempted by Arsenals cash on this one and don't think Tim would want to move dan saf.
