don't usually agree with some of the shyte that you spout but I do here.. Cole is a big YES from me, always liked him, he's a handful for defences and Aluko/Fryatt will feed off the knock downs. He's also much braver and better in the air than Proschwitz
I can, Kamil Zayatte. Apparently he stunk like rotten eggs and players couldn't get far enough away from him. Probably why we let so many goals in, attackers got past him because it was do or die. Stick him up front and defenders wouldn't go near the smelly bastard. I can confirm this is true as he walked right past me outside the KC once and I don't think I could ooze so much B.O. after a month in Africa.
Money for Carlton Cole to join City, now 8/11 favourites. Hooper's odds chopped down to 4/1 from 10/1 despite what Brucey said yesterday.
I don't think I'd be unhappy with Cole but still reckon Odemwinge would be a great get and am kind of surprised he's going cheap by EPL standards. The fact is that even just by reading this thread, there is clearly a world of players out there that might well be good enough if given the chance. As for the other players mentioned, it appears Hooper might still be a chance (definitely a prospect in my view) and Mboyo wouldn't be on my list for reasons already well canvassed.
Remind me again how many top flight appearances they made for City? Oh and while youre at it the number of international caps they had. Yes, he's not good enough for West Ham. They are a much bigger club with much better history and much bigger transfer budget than us. I hope that helps to explain why.
Anybody who thinks Cole isn't good enough for City is kidding themselves, he's played for England for Christ's sake. You don't suddenly how to forget to play football (unless you're Peter Halmosi. Or Alan Rogers). He probably didn't get in ahead of Carroll (who is genuinely ****e) because they'd been paying his wages and (probably) a daft loan fee. Cole would be an asset to any newly promoted club and those turning their nose up at him are being daft.
If you just going to compare with players who played for us in the top flight and have England caps, then Anthony Gardner must be the best centre back we've ever had. It's nonsense. I'd be quite happy for us to sign Cole, I think he's a good player, but the comparisons being made are a bit daft.
Gardner has 2 England caps across all levels. Cole has 33. It's not the same. And it's not the only criteria, I also mentioned top flight appearances. And Carlton Cole is just better than they were. People have this misty eyed idea of Waggy and Chillo but they played for us in a lower league. The best teams we have had in our history have been in the last decade, it's a simple as that.
