at the moment I'm gutted for Charlie Austin, we'll get a striker but will he ever get to try PL? remember he's come from non-league. He'll probably go back to Burnley and continue banging them in but you can't risk the outlay and finally HCAFC have been smart.
Looks like Bianchi is off to Bologna. I never thought this was a serious option to be honest: http://www.football-italia.net/36246/bianchi-ready-bologna
For a start the hissy fitters need to take a chill pill. It is only 9th july ffs and still loads of strikers available. Lets see what happens eh ? Steve Bruce and the club have done great business so far and we are in great shape overall. So as to the thread we could go down this route as an example:- GK - Paul Robinson FAT on a pay as you stay fit deal with an option next summer. MD - Wilson Palacios £1.5m plus his wages which should be within our range now CF - Carlton Cole* FAT CF - Odemwingie* £3m CF - Billy Sharp* £1.2m CF - Gary Hooper* £5m plus add ons CF - Vydra or Rhodes*(if the club wanted to splash some big cash) So assuming the first 2 happened and pick 2 from the others (*) that would a great summer of recruitment IF it were to come to pass. Cole and Sharp as an example is not the worst that we could have.
See, Billy Sharp isn't Premier League quality. I'm all for giving low league players a chance, but the most important is to get somebody we know can score goals at the highest level. While nobody can be assured that Austin would've succeeded, he's still a damn sight better than Sharp at Championship level so it's probably safe to assume he couldn't cut it in the PL. Odemwingie would be a good option if he was cheap, I think the Hooper talk has died down now. Maybe enquire about Demba Ba on loan from Chelski?
Id be more than happy with Gedo and he wants to come here. He's a scorer, he just knows how to do it, and I'd back him to get enough goals to be considered a success for us.
Billy Sharp? He's going back to Donny, he's not a Premier League player. Le Fondre's probably available for the £1.2m mentioned.
AT ANY PRICE ? Oh i think City and Bruce would be interested again at a vastly reduced price. If not then Austins shoulder and / or knee must be a real mess. Do we have a budget ? The Allams have said that each player/signing will looked at seperately. So far we have spent very little. Have you got 40p change ? 2 twenties please. It has all gone very quiet with regards to Rhodes. Other than rumours nothing so far. Agreed. Then again he could be injured in the first game with Bolton and we shall be further vindicated in our actions. Fingers crossed for the lad he stays fit though.
We shall never know re. Austin and until Sharp is given a chance nor will we on him. He is worth a risk imo and with the chances that we create i would expect Sharp to get 10 goals next season.
I'm on the Odemwingie bus. I think he was clearly a tool (albeit a mislead tool) for the QPR fiasco but he could be our bargain of the season at £2-3million!
Just seen gedo @ total fitness in willerby with a bloke from city... It was either him or a kebab takeaway owner. I would presume he was always coming along with Austin.
Not instead of hooper, Rhodes, odemwingie etc. I didn't see anything that looked like he could do a good job in the premiership. Maybe aswell as one of these names but then we have prozzy and fryatt so it's a no for me
With Nile Ranger and Ilombe Mboyo up front, we could change our nickname from the Tigers, to the Rapists... http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk-news/2013/jul/08/footballer-nile-ranger-charged-rape
As for an alternative striker: Jordan Rhodes or Gary Hooper would be brilliant, but not going to happen. Next best options are: Peter Odemwingie Stephane Sessegnon Mohamed Zidan (on a free) Jelle Vossen Philipp Hosiner Brown Ideye (who has stated he wants to move to the Prem) Adam Le Fondre or Sebastián Pinto would be good cheaper options too, or loan options (as back-up) like Guidetti and/or Gedo.
