Years ago agroup of us booked for a Dire Straits gig at Maine Road! One pulled out on the day, losing all his money because he heard that Maine Road was very close to Moss Side!
I remember my Dad driving us to Maine Road when I was a young un. We parked in the Moss Side area and this Manc kid said he'd watch our car for a fiver. Naturally my Dad payed the lad. Not worth the risk of coming back to a smashed up car!
Me and Mrs Guru spent a few days in the Palace Hotel on Oxford Street in Manchester for a few days, coming away I decide to let her navigate. Happy days I thought she can't get that wrong, just get to the A6! How wrong could i be, next thing I know we are driving through Moss Side at night! I can safely say I have never so scared in my life. I would rather stand in the centre spot at carrow road singing derogatory songs about Grant Holt, than ever do that again.
if you think moss side is bad, then have a wee look at North Manchester, it makes Moss side look like cathedral close
