Maybe. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...dfielder-turns-down-new-contract-8697852.html Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback has turned down the chance to extend his contract and is set to leave the Stadium of Light. Press Association Sport understands the club will reluctantly listen to offers for the 23-year-old after the academy graduate intimated he saw his future elsewhere. Manager Paolo Di Canio had wanted to extend Colback's contract but with only 12 months now remaining on it the Black Cats would rather sell him now than allow him to leave for free. Colback has been with Sunderland since the age of 10 but found opportunities in midfield difficult to come by last season and he played a chunk of the campaign as an emergency left-back. Di Canio had hoped to give Colback more of a run in his preferred position, especially with the likely departure of Lee Cattermole this summer, but the player feels he needs a new challenge.
If he thinks he is going to make it as a midfielder in the Premier league then he is a sandwich short of a picninc. He's useless in midfield but decent at left back.
Funny game football. I think he is a thinking mans Cattermole and could be a terrific holding midfielder but is a terrible full back. 1 or 2 canny games at right back and left back to fill in doesn't make him good there. If he were a regular full bac, he'd very soon be figured out as he has awful positioning sense and can't head a ball to save his life. Offers huge bonus though covering the back 4 and I will be sad to see him go but not at all concerned we will suffer that much if he does. I can't see anyone from the top half EPL wanting him so newly promoted or top championship club will be his destination. I wish the lad well though.
Not sure about this. I don't think he will ever make it as a CM but was a good squad man to cover a number of positions. The championship beckons if he wants to play CM
He's the best passer of the ball in the squad by a million miles. He needs to work hard on his shooting and on his through passing and he could be a very good box to box midfielder, he can get up and down the pitch, fantastic engine. To say he'll never make a premiership midfielder astonishes me. He's not a fullback, he's a very talented hard working footballer who can fill in anywhere if needed to. Plus this story is based on nothing.
Its on ssn and all the local journos are reporting it. Cant blame the lad really. No clear defined role and no guarantee of a starting role. Hes getting to the age where he needs to hold down a definite starting position. I would love him to stay. He hardly puts a foot wrong. But I can understand his motives. He hasnt handed in a transfer request, which is good. If the right offer for the club is there, it would be really unfair on colback to keep him; and honestly, I think he realises all weve done so won't dick us over.
if you mean sideways passing then yes but when has he ever played a defence splitting pass i cant think of a single one. i like the kid i think hea a squad player no more though id rather keep vaughan if the rumours a true
Rumours were (last close season I think) that one of the English Champions league clubs were looking at him - personally I would be sad to see him go as I think he will turn out to be a very good player.
I think he deserves a bit of credit if he is wants to be playing more regularly. Useful player to have, but easily replaceable (even if that is with more than one player due to his flexability).
side foot charlie , however a great deal of honesty about him a good pro, in the henderson mould ,no trouble to manage i bet
He will be a loss because he can plug holes But his own career won't fulfill it's potential filling in different positions and warming our bench I think he's made this decision for footballing reasons, so fair play to him
I can LOL it was against Bolton & Bendtner scored. plus if you rate vaughan ahead of colback then really you haven't got a clue.
