Maybe not Skrtel right now. They have a big age difference. I dont think Illori is even worth comparing to Skrtel right now. BR probably feels he can be better in the long run though.

Compare him to Coates. That is fairer. What gets said about Illori is a lot like what people said about Coates. Big, strong, good in the air and his good footwork when in possession. This could go either way.

How about Kelly? Is he better than Kelly? Is Toure better than Kelly? Is Skrtel better than Kelly?

  2. I don't know anything about Illori but isn't it a big difference coming from a European league rather than Brazil?

    Yes it is.

The BBC are now reporting Downing to West ham.

The funny thing here is that Camolli and Dalglish scouted out Downing as the player who can get the best out of Carroll.

McNulty opens yet another Suarez article for comments, but refuses to allow anyone to talk about Wayne "went to same school as McNulty" Rooney.

hAVE TO AGREE WITH THIS NUMPTY. <OK>

Ooops. Bale can be the difference between them finishing 5th and 4th (almost like last season). But selling him for that money can be the difference between 3rd and the title.

depends how you view it i suppose, get your point, but with him in the team it can also help attract better player to the club, without unless silly wages to get them, they have no Cl draw, so could be worst off, much like some who want rid of Luis he can also help in that dept.

Spurs could easily make the mistake we made with Alonso and ruin there season if they are not careful. Building a summer of unkowing and resulting in unrest as a key player leaves far to late in the summer.

I thought about that whilst typing, considering Paulinho's reasoning of joining Spurs if Bale was staying. But for the money Bale would bring I'm sure they would attract other top quality players to build a very good squad. I guess it's 6 of 1 half dozen of the other.

Bottom line is, Bale is staying. Either or... They will finish above us this season. <ok>

  13. I agree with this bellend (returned) here. Bale won't be leaving because no one will pay what Spurs want for him.

I would be pretty happy if we got him - would provide great competition for Enrique.

But there are more pressing issues that need to be addressed first ...

    Ideal world...
Sell Luis ASAP if he really wants to go..
Put in a bid for Benteke, however I think he's been tapped up or set his sights on going to a CL side, which would rule us out!
On top of the above, buy a CB and DM and we'll have a decent enough side to push the other sides for a top four place!

Renia/Mig (to be honest, can't see Pepe staying, would love to be wrong though)
Johnson, Agger, CB - TBC, Enrique
    Lucas, Gerrard
    Hendo, Ford, Sturrdige
    Benteke

Options for the bench (assuming Pepe stays) Renia/Mig, Skrtel or Toure, Kelly or Wisdon, Aspas, Alberto, Allen, Borini, Sterling, DM - TBC, with the likes of Ibe and Suso to cover them assuming they don't go out on loan..

We don't have the money we once had and without CL (any european football), our name hasn't got the pull it once had (we'll get there again...)
With the right spirit and if we start the way we finished last season, I see no reason why we can't give the the likes of Arsenal, Spurs a good fight for 4th spot!

Lol. Great engine, able to run up and down the flank all day long. Quite similar to Enrique but taller and more imposing in the air. However, he's more of a natural defender in the sense that he won't overplay and can read the game better.

This is a good article: http://www.thisisanfield.com/2013/02/lfc-scout-report-aly-cissokho/

However, he does have some sort of medical condition (something to do with his teeth and spinal cord) which is probably why some teams are reluctant to invest. It's worth noting that he's rarely injured.
