You live in a **** HU postcode, the players will live in a nice HU postcode, it's really not complicated.
It seems to be us, Palace, QPR and Besiktas. Heard he'd prefer to stay in London, but who knows what will happen. It'll be quite depressing if Palace end up with a strike partnership of Cole & Odemwingie, or even worse; if QPR end up with a strikeforce of Cole & Hooper.
O/T but where has the hooper wanting 70k a week rumour come from? Can't see it, he wants to play in the premier league, wants to get in the frame for he england set up, and no club in the world is going to give him 70k a week. I reckon it's a load of bollocks, and should there not be much interest from other PL clubs we may well get him. Specially if we can get the other striker in on a FAT (cole) without extortionate wages. Cole/Hooper/Aluko would be pretty fooking good. Still think Fryatt wil also have a part to play too as will Proschwitz if he manages to finally pull his finger out and get a grip on the English game.
I didnt say we would at any point of my post. I actually said "Im not suggesting we'll give Cole 50k a week". I said the maths would mean we could pay that and it cost the same as Austin (assuming his salary), therefore if we offered a high but doable cos he's free 35k a week he would actually be cheaper than Austin. I think.
On the Carlton Cole thread a while back I pointed out that the 1 in 3 stat is deceptive. In his whole career he has only got into double figures in the league on 3 occasions, 1 of which was in the championship. For most seasons he has got 4 or 5 league goals. If we went for him we would still need to buy a goal scorer becsuse Cole will not score enough imo. For the wage that he would seek I'm not sure it is worth it
Let's see what other options are out there, there is still a month to go, signing Cole now would just be a knee-jerk reaction. SB will have his targets.
But how can it be deceptive - he's either got 1 in 3 or he hasnt? If youre going by double figures all it means is he hasnt played enough games that season for his 1 in 3 to equal 10+. And I think everyone agrees we'd need a goalscorer as well, same as we would with Austin. That's why I suggested Gedo. He's the perfect foil for Cole in my eyes, one does the donkey work (literally, according to Hammers fans) and the other does literally nowt but score. Add Aluko's brain to Cole's brawn and Gedo's goalhanging and we're in. Piece o' piss this football management lark.
Interesting. It would make more sense than the supposed shoulder injury he has played with his entire Brunley career.
Half of them are nice, obviously we don't allow riff-raff like you into them, but they're out there..
They must have taken a tissue sample and found his knee contained 12% carbon and thought his knee would be too soft to cope with the premiership.
Here's my post from the other thread, which also gives his appearances... 01/02 - 3 appearances, 1 goal 02/03 - 20 appearances, 4 goals 03/04 - 21 appearances, 4 goals 04/05 - 27 appearances, 3 goals 05/06 - 9 appearances, 0 goals 06/07 - 17 appearances, 2 goals 07/08 - 31 appearances, 4 goals 08/09 - 27 appearances, 10 goals 09/10 - 30 appearances, 10 goals 10/11 - 35 appearances, 5 goals 11/12 - 43 appearances, 15 goals 12/13 - 27 appearances, 2 goals Other than in 3 seasons he has struggled to score 5 goals a season in the league. His goalscoring record is poor. But do we have the financial wherewithall to spend large wages on a non-scoring striker? It is a piece o' piss when you have a bottomless pot of money
Reading the Burnley forum, every single one of them is upset that the deal fell through. Good enough reason for me to be happy about it. ****ing hate Burnley.
